In real life, what's been the fastest speed you've driven in a car ?

Irrespective whether it was your own (current or previous) car or someone else's
(whether you were the one driving, or you were only a passenger doesn't matter),
what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven, without crashing and
harming anyone and/or also physically damaging the car. It doesn't matter if
it was on a road, or on a race track.

If it's miles, please covert it to a km figure as well and please elaborate on
what the serious or humorous circumstances of driving so fast far were.

125 or so, 1987 2 year old Z28 with IROC engine and suspension/drivetrain. NYC to Boston, around 1am for a few mins - dont recall how long. I had a guy in a new white Mustang GT right on my ass, not close enough to draft, but not too far off either as I recall.

Scariest few mins behind the wheel in my life. I vividly recall that at 100mph once can still discern dotted white lines. At around 110 the line seemed solid white to me.

Probably won't ever hit that speed again ever in USA. No cops, no traffic, wide open interstate - a confluence of events that pretty rare I think. My buddy was screaming at me not to even touch the brakes.

man, it was good to be young [and dumb] :-)

100mph (160kph) 87 Mazda 626 Turbo. 4 door hatch. This with a bad clutch and without the turbo spooling up.

135 mph (217kph) in a Toyota MR2 Spyder in the twisty section (read: extremely dangerous and windy and without a Trauma Center for a basically deadly distance) on the I-10 headed towards Palm Springs at about 1AM. My formerly long distance girlfriend was visiting for the first time in several months and I had just got off work and was desperately in need of, well, you know.

170 kph (=107 mph) with a 1600cc Peugeot 206 with passenger. It was on a highway inside the town with a speed limit of 100 kph at around midnight. I went until I made a small jump and flew for maybe one meter. That was when I thought it's time to slow down.

110 mph/177 kph
Chevy HHR on a highway in western Massachusetts. I was bored in the middle of the day driving somewhere and it was a blast.

Honestly I think that 90 is about the highest I ever went. Just because I felt like I can deal with a speeding ticket at 90 mph, but I would've been in a world of hurt if he had to deal with a speeding ticket of 100+ mph. I didn't want to risk losing my license.

roughly 110 miles an hour (170-ish km/h) in a 1998 mazda 626 sedan on country back roads in january of 2008.

have come close to that in a 2007 XR8 ford falcon since back then. the mazda was surprisingly well handled at that speed and reached the speed quite effortless for a smallish car with only a 4 cylinder un enhanced motor. the ford on the other hand could have well exceeded 200+ with the 5.4 V8 and 260 kilowatts and always handles and drives smooth.

got up to some good speeds in another V8 older ford model as well prior to the falcon. i don't go out of my way to try much usually lol.
