In real life, what's been the fastest speed you've driven in a car ?

Irrespective whether it was your own (current or previous) car or someone else's
(whether you were the one driving, or you were only a passenger doesn't matter),
what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven, without crashing and
harming anyone and/or also physically damaging the car. It doesn't matter if
it was on a road, or on a race track.

If it's miles, please covert it to a km figure as well and please elaborate on
what the serious or humorous circumstances of driving so fast far were.

Just above 140MPH in a 97' Eclipse. It was pretty exhilarating to say the least, passing all those cars. It's a good thing there were no cops around. :)

I have an aircooled 1963 VW sedan that, according to a VW manual, reaches a top speed of 78 mph. I hot rodded the engine and reached a top speed of 93 mph (150 kph). On the map link, the red marker shows the half-way point between the Knott St onramp of the 22 Frwy and where the 22 merges with the 405 (San Diego Frwy); this is a 1.7 mile stretch without any onramps in between. I traveled west between these two points and hit top speed before reaching the 405. I had to do it at 2 am because there is no way the freeway would be uncrowded enough to allow that speed during the day.

At Indianapolis I did a practice lap at 222 MPH in a Roger Penske team car. However, that wasn't in real life, that was in my fantasy life.

110mph in my '91 Nissian Sentra. It got a little shaky/scary. I'd never do it again.

140mph Once.... at The Nurburgring, Germany.

Most of the time now I sit at 70.

Hit 104 crossing the quarter mile marker at santa pod drag strip.

Save speeding for tracks and drag strips..... I do, I mean.

I've done over 105 mph in a '73 Lincoln Continental with a 460cui ...unfortunately I kept running out of road. Imagine what that engine could have pulled with a car 1/3 the size

I got 20mph from a Massey Ferguson 35 on a lane in Urus Martan, Chechnya.
I was a passenger in a '94 Toyota Celica doing 120 mph in Sligo, Ireland
I got 100 mph from an '99 1.4 Opel Astra on the M4 from Dublin, Ireland!

I notice in America unless its 3.5 V8 turbocharged or whatever the numbers or definition are it won't go over the ton. In Europe a 1.2 standard matchbox will do 100mph if your brave enough.
