300 Dollar Purse??? What A Bunch Of B****es....

The scene towards the end where Samantha's dog is humping a pillow at Carrie's place. Carrie says, "by the way, that pillow cost $300..." What kind of degenerate spends that kind of money on a throw pillow like that? The extravagant lives these women lead...does this sicken anyone else? Do they have no sense of morality? Are they completely oblivious to the poverty some people are trying to survive? I thought this aspect of the movie was sickening.

I understand your position and can only say that it is indicative of the Gen Y..me, me, me generation.

reply

That doesn't make sense, Carrie is NOT from Gen Y.

reply

"indicative of the Gen Y..me, me, me generation."

These women are in their 40's. They are Gen-Xers.

Throw pillows are insanely expensive no matter what. I don't know why. Price some next time you're out.

Cost of the designer I guess? I agree that's silly to spend $300 on a pillow.

Please, this is a woman who routinely spent $500+ on one pair of shoes! She loved designer clothes, shoes, accessories, etc., so it stands to reason that she'd be the same when it came to decorating her apartment. Remember when her building was going co-op and she didn't have the money to buy it? She admitted then that all her miney was tied up in her shoe collection.

reply

If you can afford it what's the big deal. I have coworkers who won't spend $5 on a subway sandwich "because you can just buy the ingredients and make your own sandwich." So she spent $300 on a pillow, why does that make her a bitch?

reply

I know this thread is old, but why does it matter if she spent $300 or $30 on a pillow? It's her money to spend, she worked for it and can spend it how she sees fit. She chose to buy an expensive throw pillow. Why should she have to change her life because people are poor?

reply

I was just about to comment that. Complaining what someone else spends their money on is absurd.

reply

Amen!!! As she mentioned the poor people of the world, I suppose someone like that thinks we should be spending our $ instead on feeding children in third-world countries......so they can get big and strong and make MORE useless, unwanted children. Newsflash----if we stop throwing good money after failed philosophies and overpopulation--- then we could ALL afford $300 pillows. I, for one, would be much happier.

reply

Hmm....your subject title states PURSE but it's actually a pillow in your message. Anyway, agreed with people above stating it's crazy to complain about what Carrie spends her money on. She's in NY - she can spend money however she wants to. I pay good money for my purses (pillows, not really), but always try to get them on sale. It's not like Carrie is depriving children or anything by buying pillows. It's America and she can spend her money anyway she wants.

Leave Carrie alone!!

I agree it is ridiculous to spend such amount of money on THAT, but hey, it's her money.

Since she gifted her "secretary" of only a few months with a Louis Vuitton bag that cost between 3,500-4,000 (at least), what is 300 for a pillow?
