where are all the white people?

so, where are all the white people?

reply

In a better movie. Not because of racism, but because nobody wants to be in this film.

reply

tru dat

reply

That's like asking, "where are all the black people?" in a Woody Allen movie.

Finally. Peace and quiet... Just me...and blood.

reply

i don't think this guy is serious.

reply

...or better yet "where are all the black people" in 90% of ALL movies.

No white people? Looks like the work of Spike Lee.

reply

Apparently you haven't seen many Spike Lee films.

ummm how about his OSCAR nominated "Do The right thing"

"Hold on, I didn't say anything about Solid Snake" (long pause followed by awkward smile)

reply

Exactly. It was even Aiello who was nominated for Best Supporting in that. See a Spike Lee film before talking like a dumb ass. Also, John Turturro is in the majority of his films.

reply

So, where are all the white people? since i watched this movie, all i see is black!

Spike Lee has lots of people from all races in his movies. If you say otherwise you haven't seen many Spike Lee movies. Inside Man and Summer of Sam had mostly white casts. So there.

behind the cameras

reply

Let's see. 25th Hour is a Spike Lee film. Very good film. Pretty much all white people. Summer of Sam. All white cast.

In fact, I can't think of a single film from Spike Lee that doesn't have whites in prominant roles. You made an incorrect assumption. You obviously don't watch Spike Lee films (missing out on one of the filmmakers who will help define independent filmmaking over the last two decades), and you assumed something based on your own prejudice.

When you assume you ... well, you're an *ss.

black people make up 13% of the population but are represented in about 40% of the media. they dont have it that bad. when children grow up they get into the things that are afforded to them. how many young blacks aspire to be actors and take acting classes at a young age vs the number of young blacks who play basketball and aspire to follow in lebron james footsteps. its just where the talent is. you take rappers and let them make movies, the movies are going to suck. you take actors and let them play basketball and its going to be a boring game no matter their color. why are their no black figure skaters? cause what black kids want to grow up to be figure skaters. im sure they are out there but they are out numbered. italian, irish, english, portuguese, russian, scotish, french, german, australian, austrian are all white. plus many more versus the amount of countries producing people of darker skin color. chinese make up 20% of the worlds population. they are the people that should be asking were they are in 90% of all movies. and i havnt seen a movie in a long time without one single black person in it. should don cheadle have been casted for the lead role in inception? maybe. but would the movie have been as good? if the talent was there the movies would be made. its all about money and money has no racial prefrence

reply

You're insane if you think blacks are given the equal chance as whites in Hollywood.

It deals with far more than talent. Do you really think Jennifer Aniston, Michael Cera, Seth Rogen and Lindsey Lohan are bursting at the seams with talent? Yet they make about 4 movies a year. The only blacks on that level are people like Denzel, Will Smith, Morgan Freeman and Sam Jackson (basically old people.) I can't even think of any blacks under the age of 30 who are hot in Hollywood right now.

The problem is that since America is majority white, the movies reflect this. Whites dominate the box office, and the audience doesn't care about what goes on in the other cultures that also share America. So Hollywood doesn't make those movies. Once in a blue moon, one will slip through the cracks (The Kite Runner, Slumdog Millionare) but it doesn't compare to the "white" movies that are released continuously.

I can't believe how many movies with a dominant white cast come out every Friday, and no one says anything...but when ONE movie comes out with a majority black cast, we get threads like this one saying "Where are all the white people?" This is the dumbest country on the face of the earth.

are you saying that their are no white movies like slumdog millionaire that slip through the cracks. are you saying that their are no lower class white people or that their are no upper class black people. there isnt anything anyone can do today that doesnt somehow offend someone. i love will smith and denzel but there is a lack of talent in hollywood rigt now for young black males and that is not white peoples fault. that is just rediculous. hollywood isnt ran on racial preference. it runs on money and greed and t-pain would be the next leo decaprio if he could fill movie theatres. will smiths kid is still getting big roles even though hes untalented and ruined the remake of the day the earth stood still.

reply

As far as your T-Pain comment, you're right to a certain extent. If T-Pain would bring in box office results, I agree he would be dominating Hollywood. However, where are all the T-Pains of Hollywood? They are non-existent, meaning they aren't given the same fair shot as all the untalented whites.

As I'm sure you already know, there is a major difference between an actor and a movie star. Leonardo DeCaprio and Robert DeNiro will be considered great actors when it's all said and done...even though Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell are far more successful financially, and as far as box office results.

Movie stars overwhelmingly dominate actors, and it isn't hard to be a "movie star." Basically, all you have to do is be yourself. Black people have to almost always be ACTORS to make it in Hollywood. Whites can be idiots and do the dumbest things in the world (Paris Hilton, Tom Green, Johnny Knoxville) and be super successful. This is the point I am making. For every one Don Cheadle out there, you've got dozens of Michael Ceras, Jennifer Anistons, and the like. Do you really think blacks are not auditioning for these roles? They are being turned away! Now you can be blind and naive, and pretend like racism doesn't exist in Hollywood, but the majority of us will continue to be realistic.

And you, RockytheBear, must be the dumbest person on the face of the earth if you are so dense as to classify an entire nation as idiotic on the basis of what a few people on the Internet are saying about a singular movie. Get a clue and stop generalizing, you dumb ass moron.

Speaking of stupidity...

I rest my case.

Well actually there were some black prostitue in one of his films.

theres like a million movies with all white people go ask the where are the black people

reply

i was totally watching one flew over the cookoos nest the other day thinking to myself "hmmmm, where are all the sane people". i was going to comment on it but then i realized that since it didnt have anything to do with race and wouldnt prolly offend very many people it wasnt worth waisting my time. where were all the crack heads in Rain Man. those guys are not getting their due

reply

Saw a few in the crowd scene.

reply

What about latinos? And gays?

reply

Where were all the black people in Super Bad?

reply

i was about to complain about the exact same thing, but there needs to be some level of diversity, even in film. Tyler Perry does not make humor that is attractive to whites or hispanics as much as it is to blacks, and, on the same leaf, newer, more cerebral films tend to leave blacks out, either out of audience targeting or simple coincidence. Woody Allen, however, can't be called out in this situation, he's a flat-out racist.

Remember movie studios chose certain parts to put in the trailers.

Remember Roll BOunce? You had plenty of Nick Cannon footage but he was only in that film for 5 minutes and see Jada Pickett-Smith in Scream 2.

The trailers look like they are trying to attract fans of Bow Wow.

However these trailers are showing on shows that fans of Bow Wow don't bother with. I mean a Lottery Ticket ads on Chiller, SyFy and during Family Guy, 2 & Half Men, Newsradio & Gossip Girl?

reply

Oh This is TERRIBLE that almost no white people are in this. How will the Caucasian race continue? Us white people just can't catch a break, can we?

If it makes you feel any better, "all the white people" are probably busy making money off of Ice Cube's pathetic attempt to stay relevant, and Bow Wow's attempt to act in any way.

I remember going to local theater in predominantly black neighborhood and seeing showtimes for a Tyler Perry movie literally every thirty minutes of every hour even two weeks after the movie came out. I guess black people like these kind of movies? I like some, definitly not Tyler Perry tho.

What are you TALKING about? Not all black people like Tyler Perry...I personally can't stand movies like this. They're so cheesy and lame. There are some "white movies" like this as well. I don't like poorly written movies with bad acting. I haven't seen this, so maybe it won't be AS bad as I'm assuming it will be. But you shouldn't put all of us into one category. I'm probably the least stereotypical black person...why are people SO obsessed with race? I don't even pay attention to stereotypes so when they're brought up I'm just like "What the hell?"
