Isn't Henry Cavill the absolute worst?
Untalented, face like a dog, disproportionate, strange body that is naturally fat, gross body hair pattern that for some reason they feel compelled to showcase.

shareEven though I disliked the movie, I think Cavill is doing just fine. It's the story and screenplay that's the problem.
shareI agree too. I think with a better script and director he'd be great. With gal gadot it's crazy the difference in dialogue between wonder woman and this steaming pile of poo.
shareHehe, you're so spot on with the script part, and her performance - though, I still believe in Zack Snyder.
Taking 300, Watchmen, MoS, (BvS and Sucker Punch, if only for the action scenes) into account, it's clear he CAN direct good, coherent movies, and coherent/gorgeous action scenes (not all of them, mind you - i.e. BvS had too much visual clutter, but was overall nice to look at).
Thing is, I think he needs to do it his way, or not at all - as this really doesn't seem like a Snyder movie at all...
If WB can't let Snyder do his thing, then get another director imo. With JL it's clear, they seem so desperate to copy Marvel, instead of making it their own thing. If they bet on a "darker/grittier universe", god damn stick to it, instead of this half assed shit. Jokes are fine, but they were so forced here - and they could have been implemented so much better.
I DO like the cast though, I think all of our heroes are greatly cast, but unfortunately underutilized to the extreme, through bad dialogue, character interaction, even acting it self (failure on the directors part, agree), horrible villain, and the story itself, which was ultimately one big jack off to Superman...
Yeah, I feel another director is probably best suited to helm this universe more properly. I only ever like 300 (and to certain extent, Watchmen and MoS) of the Snyder action movies. But a lot of them just ended up with polarizing results. WB should've saw this one coming based on Snyder's track record and the unanimous reactions that came from MoS.
Despite some uneven and questionable moments, this movie was kind of alright and fun for me in the end. I liked Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman the best in the movie. Still cautiously optimistic to see their standalone movies and Wonder Woman 2.
Henry for me is just like Arnie Hammer. Which is why it's hilarious they paired them up in a movie. They both should be good looking and charismatic and natural movie stars. But they just... aren't.
shareToo masculine for the current nerdy man-child culture... There is little room for any man who has-it-together in show business these days...
Armie is playing (?) gay and failing to get traction, whereas Cavill has at least been able to do justice to the Superman role...
They would both be better off it they tried roles playing the villians, antagonists or douchebags... Maybe Banker types as well...
The concept of a leading man is not supported by the culture at the moment... Only leading women, manchildren and victims-as-heros are accepted at the moment... Cavill & Hammer types just don't suit mainstream movies, unless they try their hands at being antagonists or try out European and Asian movies...
Either would make solid 80s romcom villians...
It's actually the total opposite. Neither have any talent or any attractiveness of any kind, their movie star looks are an illusion and it is precisely because we live in a time of abject mediocrity, ignorance, retarded feminism, insidious movements masquerading as civil rights and as you say, manchildren, that they are able to have careers. Neither of them would have been able to get a job in any other time in movies except now when people have completely forgotten about what talent and beauty are.
shareUm... your last statement is both hilarious and on point. Yes, the douchey schmarmy lover who ends up losing the girl to the good guy in the end. They would be great at that. I'm actually pretty excited for Cavill's role, whatever it is, in the new Mission Impossible flick. Where Renner also falls flat in his roles, playing second banana in Mission Impossible was a perfect fit for him.
shareLet's see. He's tall. He has dark hair and blue eyes. He has one of the best jawlines in Hollywood. Sounds like a great casting to me.
My only problem is that he's ageing. His hairline was noticeably receded in this movie. I hope he gets some treatment for that. Superman has to have good hair.
Yeah i think that's why Nicolas Cage never was able to get the role, it was the hair issue I am sure.
sharethat is not why he didn't do that movie, it was other issues, the role was his.
shareLol I was kidding. Intothenight brought up the hair issue and I remembered Cage was tied to the role years ago and he has certainly had some hair issues.
shareoh ok lol, well he was cast, the role was his, baldness and all. He didn't look bad actually. Also, rewatching the horrific Martha scene in BVS, there's this instance where you see Cavill's scalp and he has like no hair.
sharePerhaps his "look" (tall, balding and lanky) didn't gel with the public. It was the revelation that he was going to be superman that sunk the project given the public backlash. It gave backers cold feet and the thing never took off.
I think he would have redefined people's perception of Superman and once they would have gotten used to it, it wouldn't have been a big issue. Michael Keaton was a WTF in 1989 but it was pre-internet, so the die hard Batman fans had to keep their rage to themselves. He turned out to be a great Bruce Wayne/Batman in most people's opinions. Some say he's the best actor to play the part.
There were elements about Keaton that simply worked for batman. It would have been a little better if he was a larger guy but other than that the crazy Keaton projected really worked in ways the actors that have followed him have failed to achieve. Keaton is still to me the most memorable movie Batman.
Nicolas Cage is a bit of a campy actor, along with his distinctly non superman appearance, I don't think any film with him would have succeeded.
At least he's quite good looking and attractive ;)
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
