Back in the Saddle??? Seriously?
Was that not the cheesiest choice of music for the comeback montage, or what?

shareMaybe you're not old enough to feel nostalgic about the songs on the soundtrack? And I don't mean that in an unkind way.
PLUS WHICH Aerosmith is from Mass and it's meaningful in the context of Micky's life. So there's that.
I liked the soundtrack.

My impression was that the choice of music was somewhat ironic, in that it was meant to reflect the low brow culture of the core characters.
I apologise if that sounds snobbish; that isn't my intention at all. But really, you couldn't have had (for example) opera or bepop as a soundtrack. The music has to be in that cheesy vein to be consistent and coherent with the look and feel of the film.
To reinforce this perspective, consider the schmaltzy Bee Gees number Leo and Bale sing. Pointless to say the song is bad or old fashioned or plain dumb...because it has to be that sort of song.
