I would like to start by saying that whoever thinks that sex never lasts more than 2-3 minutes, and that is normal, either has lead a very pitiful sexual existance as a woman, or has a good wife that lies to you regularly. I have studied tantra for over a decade and average around a half hour outside of foreplay. Next, I will agree that sexual satisfaction was not as popular back then, because even though it existed, it was not educated and readily available knowledge, and there was a lot of moral and religious conservatism in the day. I think that what makes the most sense is that Sam Mendes thought that all guys were like that, and filmed what he knew. No wonder Kate left him.

Hah! I agree. As a woman in my late 20s, I have never had sex that lasted for only 2-3 minutes. If the guy was done that quickly, he would probably not get invited back lol.

Aside from prostitutes and whore's and those who specialized in sex women in this era weren't exactly satisfied, and men usually climaxed and stopped. Not only that but men didn't know how to satisfy their women back then. Women's sexuality and experimenting really revolutionized in the 70's...and now men/women are on the same level. Honestly even today you'll be surprised how many men can't get a women off...

I was thinking the same thing. She obviously came on to him to experience 'the best feeling in the world' that only her 'lost lover' could give her again. It seemed to me pretty obvious, that the reason he came so quickly was not because he couldn't have made it last longer, but that he just thought of himself. I think coming quickly is supposed to mirror Leo's not giving a damn anymore and being at least content with the crappy state of his marriage as it is.

Have any of you ever seen a sex scene in a movie before??? Most of them only last 15 seconds, it's just because it would get boring and repetative if it lasted how long sex actually lasts. IT'S JUST A MOVIE!

I think the most of the posters in this topic are virgins and think sex in reality is like in porn (blowjob for 5-10 mins, then several positions of intercourse ending with anal and facial ejaculation). It's not.

Well said. The truth is that 15-60 seconds of passionate sex/quickie can be much more satisfying than 20-40 minutes of sex. It doesnt matter how long it takes, as long as both are happy.

Lol, get the hollywood crap out of your head. You ever see that mtv show 16 and pregnant, I wonder how long they lasted, lol. She didnt get banged, she got made love to. It's easy to have sex longer if its someone you dont have an emotional connection with. But if you really like somebody its bang bang bang goes the trolley and your done. She didnt seem to mind though, man I dig 50's women. This was before pornography ruined sex. Now everything is compared.

If reincarnated,I'd return to Earth as a killer virus to lower population levels.
