Is this better than Prince of Thieves ??
what do you think
shareDepends what kind of movie you're into. Prince of Thieves is one of my fave movies ever. This movie is rather grim and serious. It's not a bad movie at all. But I don't think it's very good either. But i'm sure this is somebody's favorite Robin Hood movie.
shareGod no. Prince of Thieves is entertaining for one thing. Better supporting cast, an iconic soundtrack, and more memorable action scenes than this wannabe Gladiator.
shareDefinitely Prince of Thieves. It was a bona fide blockbuster and everybody was talking about the film for years.
I think I fell asleep during this Robin Hood because I honestly don't remember much of anything about the film. This is despite the fact that Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors.
Stumbled onto this early Russell Crowe flick just yesterday.
https://moviechat.org/tt0119272/Heavens-Burning Thought it was engaging enough although the ending a bit far fetched. Also, I watched Prince of Thieves for the first time just recently.
Wow nice find. Haven't seen that one yet. I watched another one of his earlier works, No Way Back, and it was pretty bad. But I like the synopsis of Heaven's Burning, so I might give it a watch.
Thanks for the recommendation.
You're welcome. Like I said, I thought it was a worthwhile watch. I'd be interested in your take on the ending, if and when you decide to watch it.
shareFinally got around to watching this flick, and yeah... Heaven's Burning was a wild but definitely entertaining ride.
I wasn't really sure how things were going to turn out, but had a sinking suspicion that there wasn't going to be a happy ending for the law-averse lovebirds. Turns out I was right. But it's all in good fun.
It reminded me of a modern day, Aussie-take on Bonnie & Clyde. It had a sort of ethereal quality about its approach to the existential nature of the two lead's fateful meeting.
I don't think there's anything I would have changed about the film, and I liked that there wasn't some ridiculous guns-a-blazin' finale like True Romance or a typical Guy Ritchie flick.
I think I might see what other films the director pumped out... I dig his style.
Also, thanks for the recommendation. I don't think I would have seen this movie otherwise.
Cool! I'm glad you enjoyed the recommendation and your analogy of an Aussie Bonnie & Clyde is a good one. ;)
shareThere is a lot to be said about the qualities of Prince of Thieves, but even those who didn't like it must admit that it was entertaining. Some even say that it was VERY entertaining.
Not so much with Robin Hood (2010). It wasn't good and it wasn't entertaining.
Just finished this and liked it. I thought it was often visually impressive, liked the dialogue, acting and unique perspective on the legend.
shareNo, Prince of Thieves was better, despite the total miscasting of Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. It was more entertaining and had a better story, despite its flaws.
I really wanted to like this movie. I've always loved the character of Robin Hood, and I grew up with the outstanding Robin of Sherwood series (brought to the US on Showtime as "Robin Hood"). Ridley Scott's movies are always visual feasts, and they get look of a period right. This movie had that, and and outstanding cast, and so much going for it, but the story just wasn't that great, some of the ideological/political themes were post-Enlightenment, and out of place in the Middle Ages, and the 12th century Higgins boats just took my right out of the movie.
Forget about both of them and watch "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with Errol Flynn.
