We've all had tv shows that we've loved that have been yanked off the air for no good reason. What shows would you put on your "Brilliant, But Cancelled" List?
I would include That 80s Show, Freaks and Geeks, and That Was Then on my list.
Damm that are a lot of shows. For me it strange that nobody mentions the black Donnellys or brotherhood.I thought both shows showed great promise but i guess because there where compared to the Sopranos the could not really survive the onslaught. I thought studio 60 on the sunset strip was one of the best shows there was on television as well,it got canceled way to fast. The same goes for the HBO pearls,Rome,Deadwood and Carnivale where ridiculously bled to death, especially Carnivale . If the riches get cancel that would be a really great lose as well. Millennium was really unique as well,it might be the bleakest show on television and in combination with twin peaks surely two of the most interesting shows. I also thought it was a a shame to OC got canceled but you could hardly call it a brilliant show.Still even though the story lines where repetitive the eye candy (girls)was wonderful and at least the ryan character was somewhat cool (especially to the shallow male characters on gossip girl who almost as metrosexual as the girls on the show). Comedy wise i think arrested development (freaking brilliant) and freaks and geeks where the biggest loses. Anyways i don't want to rub anyones feathers but some shows you consider brilliant are pretty freaking awful. Then again it's a shame reality television seemed to have taken over for good.If its "real" then people just have to watch it,no matter how awful it is. Ooh and since there are still so many prudes in the states (kind of hypocritical since you have the biggest porn industry in the world and evangelical Christians always seem to have more skeletons in the closet than "non believers") its kind of obvious swingtown didn't make it.Prehaps if showtime took it it would have stand a decent chance. And the L word dying a quit death isn't to bad because the writing in the last couple of seasons became completely unbelievable (way to sensational to keep hold of viewers) and the characters way to stereotypical.
The Dead Zone! The 4400 Joan of Arcadia American Dreams VERONICA MARS. Standoff Still Standing - it is pretty funny. i love the reruns Reba - even though it was time for it to go i do miss it ):
Justice was just flat out genius. i loved how you got the story and then the truth at the end. boo I miss it. did anyone else watch it?
Babylon5 Crusade Stark Raving Mad Raines Cashmere Mafia Dresden Files Moonlight Jericho Mysterious Ways Journeyman Firefly WindFall October Road Tru Calling New Amsterdam E-Ring Men In Trees John Doe Witchblade Veritas: The Quest Dark Angel Medical Investigation Star Trek: Enterprise The Guardian The Agency Now and Again Six Degrees
the not so brilliant but loved them list
7th Heaven Queen of Swords Relic Hunter Ed Jake 2.0 Las Vegas Tarzan Martial Law Early Edition 7 Days The Handler Gilmore Girls What About Brian Three Moons Over Milford
Felicity (I understood why they canceled. Main cast wouldn't be in college anymore) Alias (Damn Ben Affleck!) The Practice Boston Public Dead Like Me (Can't wait to see the movie) Family Matters (Love those guest appearances)
-- I know exactly what kind of man you are, Keamy, so we can despense with the formalities.
1. Angel........I can't get enough of David Boreanaz, I wanted it to end better, does anyone read season 6 in the comic books? Not quite the same is it? Also are any Whedonites like myself looking forward to his new show next month THE DOLLHOUSE? For anyone who doesn't know, Eliza Dushku from Tru Calling and Amy Acker from Angel are starring in it. I can't wait!
2. Tru Calling--speaking of Eliza Dushku
3. My So Called Life---wrote ABC and signed petitions for that show- to no avail
4. Babylon Fields--the pilot rocked! So sad so few had a chance to see it
5. Daybreak--I was really p*ssed with that one, talk about leaving ya hanging
6. Birds Of Prey
7. Wolf Lake
8. BuffyTVS--had a good run though, I just miss it
9. Roswell--another show I miss so much
10. I Married Dora--no I'm not kidding LOL!
11. Sex in the City--another one with a good run, I just miss it
12. Swingtown it sadly looks like, hopefully not
13. Port Charles--Do soaps count?
14. And I agree with the poster who said Family Matters! Great show, horrible ending!

#13 - I think Soaps Count :)
Thank you all for the wonderful memories of some of my all time favorite shows that are now gone.
Haha I love you! I was reading through these answers hoping to see someone post Homefront. Then I was about to make the point you made about your/you're. You basically covered both points for me!!
I still miss Frisco County Jr with Bruce Campbell and Firefly with Nathon Fillon. Heck I even miss Planet of the Apes from the 70s although I wouldn't call that "brilliant". Firefly was the best though. Well drawn out characters and imaginative plots. Farscape was good but that lasted four or five years.
