YOUR 'Brilliant, But Cancelled' List

We've all had tv shows that we've loved that have been yanked off the air for no good reason. What shows would you put on your "Brilliant, But Cancelled" List?

I would include That 80s Show, Freaks and Geeks, and That Was Then on my list.

reply

There are zillions I'm forgetting, but here's my list:

Arrested Development
Jericho
Tell Me You Love Me
Journeyman
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Firefly
Tru Calling
Freaks and Geeks
Undeclared
New Amsterdam

I still kinda miss The Nine, even though it wasn't THAT good.

Did Swingtown get cancelled? Or are you just expecting it will be?

reply

I thought of another one.

and someone mentioned Angel. I really should be ashamed of myself for not putting that one on my initial list to begin with. I am a HUGE Whedonite and I do believe that they cancelled Angel too early. With him running W&H they could have gone in a myriad of directions for new story lines. Now Buffy on the other hand, I believe they may have pushed the show one season too far. The army of slayers was a bit much for me.

I should've had Reunion on my list. I loved that show but they fouled it up by taking it off so long by the time it came back it was hard to reconnect with it.

true however it opened the door for him to be on Eli Stone and he sings sometimes in that show and it was him singing in the 1972 movie Godspell that made me fall in love with him at the young age of 10

Once and Again, I loved that show. brilliant cast and writing.

"Kidnapped" (I LOVE Jeremy Sisto!)
"Windfall" (glad to see some other people liked that one, too!)
"Cashmere Mafia"

I liked "Traveler," too.

I'd put WB's Birds of Prey on the list. It's progression was too fast and it was more soap opera than action-adventure; if it was the opposite it definitely would have succeeded very well.

2) life as we know it. it was awesome. and like on for 7 episodes. i loved it.

3) american dreams. i was very angry when it was canceled.

3) the best years. it was second best to degrassi on the N.

4) radio free roscoe (or however you spell it). the ending was horrible.

Oh my gosh, Life as We Know It!!!!!! I totally forgot about that show. It was awesome.

The Lone Gunmen. It was corny, but by the last episode before it was cancelled it was really showing promise. And I have a huge crush on Dean Haglund, especially with the long hair. Langely...

BOOMTOWN was great.

All is Forgiven

I will never forget this very short-lived but very funny comedy about the behind scenes activity of a tv soap opera, with Carol Kane absolutely hysterical as the dizzy southern belle head writer. It lasted only a few months, but I still remember it very fondly 20 years later.

CARNIVALE is my main one.... still grieving over that one. :-(
I know there's been a lot, but since losing Carnivale, my mind is one big blur.

I'm with you. I watched season 1 when the show aired but I moved and had no cable access. I recently watched the entire series over and man....what a show! Season 2 was even better than 1 since they finally began to reveal more of what the hell was going on. That's the reason why the show got cancelled. They took to long to explain the show and lost viewers in the process.
