Sadie was crying

She was crying when Mari got shot. When you see the close up of her face you can see that she is crying. I know it wasn't the rain cause her mascara was running and you could see a tear comig out of her other eye.

I think she was just a follower. I think she really felt bad about what happened to Mari but she was trying to be who Krug wanted her to be.

That was an interesting scene, Sadie definitely looked remorseful. She was either sad that she had lost her "playmate", someone (in her twisted mind) that she thought could be groomed to be "one of them", or she was in awe that someone had the "balls" to stand up to Krug, somehing which she obviously lacked as a follower.

The shower scene a little later on answers the OP's question.

In the original after the rape Krug and Sadie etc. all kind of look morose and put out, like they know what they have to do is coming; or perhaps in the original it's because they know they have destroyed Mari, because afterwards she basically walks into the river to die. I think it's the gravity of their actions hitting them, not enough to cause any remorse, just a moment of realisation.

Like shayneferry said, I think it was more of her just taking it all in, and reflecting the actions they just made, rather than feeling remorse. Sort of like how people get quiet right after sex.

I don't beleive she was crying. She can't jump from laughing at Mari when she's getting up after being raped to crying over her death.

What does a bean mean?

reply

The parents should've tortured Sadie more like they did to Francis and Krug!

Wow, these are fascinating comments.

Yes she did shed a tear but if u noticed, there was a point in the movie where all three of them had a moment where they felt bad about what they did, it was right after Mari was raped, and this was also in the original Last House On The Left when they felt guilty at one point...but then they went to the house and basically forgot all about it lol

Sadie was obviously a *beep* monster psychopath/sociopath. She was upset that her little kitten, her little plaything who she liked to stroke and pet was gone, her little kitten had been hit by a car when she wondered out into the road and now she'll have to find something else to play with. Her toy had been taken. Sad Sadie, waaah. SHE WAS A NUTJOB, PEOPLE. COME ON. That's how I interpreted it. That woman was creepy and deranged as hell.

reply

Absolutely.

I have known people like this. They get all sad and contemplative once the moment is gone, but they'd do it again in a heartbeat.

This is one of the characteristics of psychotic behavior. These are artificial feelings. A demonstration that they understand that something has been lost or taken away from them and they resent that. But when faced with the next identical situation, they do not relate these feelings to the reality.

This is displayed prominently in this movie. The same thing happened when they were killing the cops. Same deal. Although she didn't get sad after they died because she had no emotional investment with them, she was well aware that murders were taking place. She was even the primary person making a display of force in that event as well.

It doesn't show that she had real feeling. It shows that she can have a hissy fit and be upset when she doesn't get her way.

reply

Dont let yourself be fooled, it was indeed the rain. She had no sympathy for Mari whatsoever.

reply

I don't believe she was just a follower. If you see her in the car caressing Mari's shoulder no one was edging her on to do that. She looked as if she was enjoying the use of sexual power over the girls. I personally think she enjoyed watching her boyfriend rape another girl, the look on her face during the rape made it looks as if she would have liked to have joined in. She really gave of a Karla Homolka vibe.

That does not mean she was not afraid of the other men, when she is looking at Mari floating in the water she does look like she is crying, but we do not know exactly what she is upset over. She could simply be crying because she knows that her boyfriend could and would kill her if he wanted to.

reply

I thought Sadie was crying for herself. Like she saw something she recognized in Mari. When Mari was getting away and her bf couldn't shoot a moving target Sadie seemed elated.

reply

There's a deleted scene where she was cutting some onions right before that.

reply

she may have felt sad or guilty over what happened to Mari, but for a WOMAN who is sick enough to hold a girl down while a man rapes her, what does remorse mean? that was a gratifying moment when the mom blew her brains out - i woulda shot her point blank too, guilty or not.

reply

She also looked a little remorseful after Krug had just raped Mari. I think the point was to imply that she still had a little humanity and empathy left (I wondered if she may have been a rape victim herself, which could have contributed to her becoming the sociopath she is) but she was too far gone for it to make a difference.

reply

That scene was definitely....interesting. I don't know if I'd say she was crying based on how silly the timing would be for her first tears to fall RIGHT when the rain started...but who knows. I think that bunch was more of a cult type family and she was brought in by possibly rape and brainwashing.......I wanna say she was sick and messed up all along but evil isn't born, its made...and I think her ways began by whatever Krug did to her.

You don't think her own ugliness was just a sibling to his type?

Yeah that must be it...they weren't on the run for murder or shown killing two cops in the first five minutes or anything....
