She was crying when Mari got shot. When you see the close up of her face you can see that she is crying. I know it wasn't the rain cause her mascara was running and you could see a tear comig out of her other eye.
I think she was just a follower. I think she really felt bad about what happened to Mari but she was trying to be who Krug wanted her to be.
Yes, sorry OP, gotta disagree w/ you there. Sadie was a certified sociopath. However, the great thing about that scene is that it's up for interpretation in terms of their remorse.
I watched it again the other nite, and looked at Krug's face this time, and he looked remorseful (or at least somewhat unhappy). But, w/ Sadie, THAT's why that scene was put in w/ RAIN; so we, the audience really didn't know.
What I was really wondering was how she felt after her boyfriend raped another girl in front of her. Rape, as we know is about anger, not sex, but I could see Sadie interpreting what Krug did as "cheating". Just a thought.
It wasn't my intention to use them interchangeably. I know the difference and I meant to call her a sociopath. Maybe she was both, and they exacerbated each other, but they are still separate.
Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.
A sociopath simply doesn't care about anyone but themselves. They're completely unable to feel sympathy and empathy for others. It's fully possible to be a sociopath and still function "normally" in society.
A psychopath enjoys causing pain and harm to others. Their idea of fun is to murder/rape/torture another human being.
I noticed the look she gave Krug after the rape scene too, and it was kind of an understanding that he's THE MAN. Rape, also out of anger, can be shown to others (perhaps in gangs such as this) that he is the dominant one of the group. The leader of their pack (even though they knew that already). And no one messes with him. He enjoys presenting fear in his victims eyes as well as his colleagues.
Or maybe Krug raped her once! Before they were something! Maybe they wanted to make Mari part of their gangg group, but Mari fought back and got raped and ran away! Maybe Sadie once fought and got raped too! And Krug forces her to stay with him and all that, even if she dont really like it.
Her crying showed that deep down, she was human as well. I think she admired the effort the girl had made to try and escape, and was sad to see her 'die' at the end of it.
No, she wasn't crying. It was the rain. She wasn't a passive follower. She took part in some incidents. She held Mari down during rape, for goodness sake. There are such things as female psychopaths.
McVillain- I totally agree w/ you on this. I have said, the rain was chosen so that whether she was crying would be up for interpretation, but I do not think that woman had one empathic bone in her body; she was a monster.
While the rain or tears could explain the mascara running, I think the expression on her face clearly shows that she feels a little remorse for this action. However due to other actions in the movie I think it is clear that this woman was bad, and no one should feel sorry to her, especially since she got a pretty clean and painless death.
I agree. I think that she was crying... The way the mascara ran down her face, and the fact that it didn't run like that on both sides... She also looked really sad.
Even after the rape, when she looked at Mari, she looked a little sad...
She was definitely crying, but I have a very different interpretation.
Sadie was perhaps the biggest psycho of the group, and she didn't feel she was 'done' with Mari for disfiguring her with the lighter. She perhaps had many more tortures in mind for Mari after the rape, and Mari's "easy escape" caused an emotional turmoil in Sadie's brain.
She hated Mari so much that she was crying when her object of hatred died prematurely.
She didn't feel bad; a sociopath has no conscience. And she enthusiastically encouraged the rape, which seems to go against the 'follower' theory. That rape scene was tough to get through, but I did get the impression that it could have been avoided if Sadie had protested or just shut up. Krug looked more bothered by it than Sadie did (but that doesn't make him any better).
Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.
I have watched that scene several times just to see, and it can be taken either way, depending on how you look at it. I like the ambiguity. That reaction, plus Justin's obvious remorse is what makes them more than JUST deranged killers with no personalities.
