Why This movie wont be made.

This movie will not be made for SO many reasons. If you polled 100 children under the age of 14, how many of them would actually know who Pee wee is? The show is not on TV anymore. You some times catch the movies on cable, but most kids would rather watch something else. When I tried to get my sister to watch it when she was younger, she was totally uninterested. And it's not just my sister. There is a whole generation of kids out there who have no idea about this show, or what it meant for popular culture back in the day. The hardest part about selling this movie, is convincing studio heads that anybody who wasn't around when the show was first aired is going to pay $10 to see it.

I"m 20 and think this is one of the funniest shoes of all time. It's amazing to see all the double entendres.

I ADORE Pee-Wee's playhouse and I just turned 15. I let my 5 year old sister watch it one time.

Look at the new Mr. Bean movie "Mr. Bean's Holiday." I work at a movie theatre and there has been a countless amount of kids seeing the movie even though the first Bean movies were before their time. It's the movie trailer that draws the kids in, not being around when it was first around.

Yo, Gympie you are WRONG on so many levels.
Anyone who was a kid and watched him, will see it.
Anyone who originally watched his stand up stuff in the 80's will see it.
Anyone from that era who let their kids watch the DVD collection, will see it.

This will one of the biggest hit of next summer.

Don't mean to be a party pooper ..... But I thought Paul Rubens had agreed to NOT appear as PeeWee as part of his sentencing ?? Was this for a limited time or did he do this on his own and now has a change of heart ???

"Paul Reubens To Play Pee Wee Again Comedy actor Paul Reubens is reprising his most famous character to make two new Pee-Wee Herman movies.

Just months after vowing never to play the kids' favourite again, Reubens is working on two new scripts - the first due for release in 2009, 19 years after he retired the beloved character.

He explains his change of heart to MTV, "I feel like the time is really ripe right now. A lot of the kids who grew up with the show are young adults. The college kids are middle-aged adults. I feel like I have enough of a built-in audience to make back an investment."

This film will so totally be made.
I just hope it's not going to be a cash grab - lacking the creativity that fueled the original Pee Wee sketches and TV Show as well as films.
This has a triple demographic.
It has the target audience - ie: the kids who grew up on it - all of whom are in their mid to late 20's now...many who now have their own kiddies who have seen the DVD's over and over (and now love it)...as well as the parents (now in their 40's and 50's) of those 20 somethings who sat alongside of their kids and enjoyed it as much as they did.
Pee Wee is tri-generational.
Also: PWPlayhouse is in syndication in 9 different languages all over the world.
Not to mention the Toys and merch.
I'm a toy collector and go to all the big toy shows.
Pee Wee Herman merch is some of the most consistently valuable and collectible swag out there.
you'll see.

This movie isnt going to be made for children under the age of 14. Myself and obviously everyone else on this thread think your an idiot for thinking it wont make it. This movie is going to make a ton of cash based on nostalgic reasons. Im also pretty sure its going to be a very funny movie.

My children LOVE Pee Wees Big Adventure, but they didn’t like Pee Wees Playhouse, so it is a gamble to make this movie. I really never watched Playhouse but loved Big Adventure, and it was a huge hit and one of my favorite movies to this day, so I do think it is possible to get this movie made today. It will probably have to be a great script and have a really good director like Burton who has to be willing to make it for it to get off the ground. Good luck though I know I will see it if that happens!! I actually have to Pee Wee Big Adventure music on my IPOD. HA HA

Hmmmm. This movie could go either way. I can see it being anywhere from G to R rated. It was based on an original adult themed stand up act but also a childrens show. I will most likely say PG to PG13. No way in hell of knowing without some more info on the plot of it. Here is a good part from the show I saw awhile back.
Not exactly sure how it started but most of it is right.

Peewee "Let Jaombi(sp?) grant you a wish cowboy curtis."

Curtis "I would love a new pair of boots"

Jaombi "What size curtis?"

Curtis "Size 12"

Peewee "You have really big feet curtis"

Curtis "You know what they say about big feet don't you?"

Peewee "No. What do they say about big feet?"

Curtis "Big feet, Big boots."

Haha I about died when they did that.

I just remembered another quote from the show that was definitely innuendo. Jambi had just used his magic to make a tree grow, and Pee-wee said, "Boy Jambi, you must have a green thumb!", or something like that. Then Jambi says, "Among other things!" and then he smirks and closes the door. Plus, just in case you missed that, Pee-wee does a double-take at Jambi's box!

This movie would be incredibly successful. For starters, the TV show was a cult hit. Name other shows that were done airing in the early 90s and came back to show reruns in syndication(the show reran on "Adult Swim" for a brief time in 2006). Movies like "Dazed and Confused" and "Animal House" were also cult classics and if those movies got released back to theaters as perhaps an anniversary showing, many people would go. It's the same case you can make for a new Pee-Wee movie. And for those who haven't seen/heard of Pee-Wee Herman, it honestly wouldn't take too much marketing; he's still an intriguing and unique character, perhaps the most of all time.
