Freaking Awesome! Trolls go home.

I am so sick to death of watching a movie, loving the hell out of it, and when I come to IMDB afterwards, all I see are dozens of lame-ass trolls and haters ragging the hell out of it. Seriously, I'm getting to the point where I just don't feel like coming here anymore, because anyone who likes a film either doesn't bother to post, or they've been scared-off by the hate-filled herd of holier-than-thou, nothings-good-enough-for-me wannabe movie critics.

Priest nailed it on every level for me, and I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to the DVD/Blu-Ray (especially for any extras that I'm hoping will be present), and really hope this is the beginning of a film franchise.

And don't give me that garbage about some of it not being realistic. Of course there are going to be elements that are fantastical and don't follow real-world physics, it's a freakin' fantasy/adventure movie. You don't see people saying, "Superman sucked. People can't fly! Sheesh!" I mean, really, the girl threw rocks into the air so he could step on them and gain elevation during a leap! It was hilariously unreal, but fit right into the mystique of the story and the mythos of the Priests. The whole thing was a total blast.

I especially loved how they wrote it like an old, classic spaghetti western, and then dressed it in an apocalyptic horror/scifi setting. I loved all the classic cliches they somehow managed to use and make them seem fresh again. I loved the too-rare-these-days happy ending, and was ecstatic over the whole "Empire Strikes Back" homage (-ish) end segment that leaves things wide-open for a sequel.

So all I can say is, if you didn't like it, fair enough, but man, it must suck to be you, cuz this movie was a lot of fun and you're totally missing out.

Edited: Fixed typo.

Personally i found this movie to be boring and with a very cheap scenario that doesnt make sense. I think acting was descent and mostly convincing with the exception of Cam Gigandet who sucked (in my opinion)
The graphics were lame and some of the fight scenes were done horribly and appeared rediculous. At no point in the film i felt any sympathy or sense of danger for any of the characters and very soon i stopped caring about them.

You are obviously misunderstanding what ppl say about some of it being unrealistic. There is nothing wrong about superman being able to fly or even in this film giving the priests superhuman strength and abilities. The problem was that,in the action scenes the way they jumped and fought, the trajectories of their bodies made no sense and werent realistic. I didnt mind that he was stepping on the rocks in middle air but again the way he jumped from each rock was crap, it wasnt done in a way to give it any sense of realism. There are video games in which such scenes appear way more realistic than in this film.

And without wanting to insult you claiming that you absolutely loved this film somehow makes me wonder how old you are or how many movies of this type you have seen to be so enthusiastic about this one. Or maybe stoned hehe.
I give this film 5/10 tops

yiannisreaper,

The movie is good. Cam Gigandet is the best part of this movie; he makes the movie even better. Your comment is flawed.

I liked the movie a lot too. Bought the unrated version. A lot of people hate movies with a lot of CGI and color timing like used in this movie, I've always liked it.

How did the scenario not make sense? The vampires managed to unite again under a new symbol, and reorganize while the church maintained ignorance and stopped paying attention, giving the vampire enough time to prepare for a strike against the cities. It made perfect sense, it was a little simple, and could have been executed a little better, but it still made sense. I personally found the movie fun, and the shots beautiful, though I must admit i was a little disappointed. Still, I think I'm going to watch it again, see how I feel about it then. And in response for those of you accuse it of ripping off the searchers... that was deliberate, they where throwing homages to it left and right, but hey, you want to complain about unoriginal ideas, I CHALLENGE you to point out a SINGLE film in the last two years that's had a genuinely original idea.

well, internet wouldnt be the same without trolls, but imdb does seems like a hive for them (pun intended). i liked this movie a lot, then again what is the opinion of a person who saw only 1300 movies worth, ill leave people who see 5-a-year to decides whats good for me. after all, it works for television ratings.

@The-Kurgan

I couldn't agree more. I loved the cast, story, action, and the special effects. I'm not too keen on post-apocalyptic movies, but I really liked this one a lot a very stylish alternate world with a different breed of vampires. I never read the comic, I can't compare the two, but the this movie was really great and I hope they make a sequel very soon. 8/10

To the OP,

Please, go and read the graphic novels, and then come back and comment, and you'll see how they screwed up!

Here is another observation, you don't know how to read, because if you did, then you'd know I was telling the OP to go read the graphic novels so he could compare it to the movie, to see how they didn't really follow the source material...which is not unusual with Hollywood!

You know what's really really *beep* annoying? Dumb people who think that people shouldn't be allowed to speak up their mind but instead only say good and positive things.

People who call other people who don't agree with them, or don't share their views, trolls.

That's really *beep* annoying.

What clichés? Thats a word the wannabe critics use when they want to whinge.

I wonder if the studio pays fails like the OP to defend these godawful films in some sort of attempt to repair the damage done by word of mouth to box office, and more importantly, DVD sales?

This film was garbage, pure garbage, and your efforts to defend it border on parody.

Yeah, the whole 'I hate when people don't like a movie I do, waaahhhh, why do people complain on imdb, waaaahhh' schtick gets old real fast, I agree.

People on the board say it sucked, voters on imdb give it an F avg, critics give it an F avg, it only made HALF it's budget back. IT'S A BAD MOVIE.

Accept it and move on OP, as you're asking the people who didn't like it to do. Maybe if you're seeing this type of thing on every board from a movie you like, then you like bad movies. No problem there obviously, but coming to complain to us about how you like bad movies and everyone else shouldn't say they're bad is kind of silly...

yep you got me, i'm being paid $1 per word to say great things about this movie. So far I've made $500+ off this thread! Yippy!

HOnestly I don't understand people that don't like this movie. Some of the acting was a little rough, but I really liked the plot.... or maybe i'm just tired of seeing moody teenage vampires. Who knows.

I'd love to see a sequel... or prequel even, I'd like them to expand on this idea of man vs vampire war since the beginning of time. Every vampire movie I've ever seen is vampires hiding among humans, a war would be a great idea.

Well my experience on imdb boards is quite similar. It seems there are a few movies accepted to be good, like The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, LOTR and such, and theres Harry Potter and Twilight and a few others with its own group of fans and then theres 99% of the rest of the films who are all just bad reviewed, most of them are all declared 'Worst movie ever'.

Just upfront i liked this movie.

Pretty sure this one could of done better if the advertisement and trailers were made better, because of the trailer i allmost skipped it as it look'd like just a copy paste of all the cool and current stuff they could of though.

the early parts in the city got me way more intrested of this one ( there we're quite stupid stuff in there also ), it felt a bit like Judge Dredd city's.

Characters we're good enough for the action fest, action scenes weren't mocked up few things here and there were bit off but didn't bother too much of the flow.

recommending this movie to all who like this genre :)

reply

Agree with the Judge Dredd reference, although the trolls on here aren't old enough to remember that movie ;)

I almost skipped it too based on the commercials, very glad I didn't.

Recommend to anyone that likes sci-fi post apocalyptic action movies

is it just me, or are there a lot of movies out there that seem like they're written/directed/produced by nothin' but 13 year old boys that grew up on a steady diet of the matrix/anime/dc comics and michael bay films?

great casts

horribly cliche'd dialogue

heavy use of special effects

uninspired scores/soundtracks or even worse soundtracks with lots of sh*tty metal guitar and electronic beats

decent to great camera work

overused and saturated with unnecessary symbolism (at the very least not used effectively)

that being said, they're not absolute garbage. but they quickly become the "seen one, seen 'em all"

reply

My words, especially *uninspired* ... boring plot and a really big lack of imagination. It's like a mash-up of other movies (I am legend, Jonah Hex, The mutant chronicles, Legion etc.) The *wasteland* was nothing more than a sandy flagstone, no details at all.

PS: Mostly the movies turn out to be bad, if the trailer already shows a lot. It's like they need to prove themselves having created an interesting story.

PPS: I've seen a lot more than 1'000 movies. Does that make me a troll? Just because I claim to know more about *good* movies than a *13 year old boys that grew up on a steady diet of the matrix/anime/dc comics and michael bay films*. This does NOT mean I can't enjoy a moderate movie. But I definitly do NOT enjoy a movie that aims at the 3D technologie and nothing more. There are enough of them already, like Avatar (which by the way is great entertainment).
