Freaking Awesome! Trolls go home.
I am so sick to death of watching a movie, loving the hell out of it, and when I come to IMDB afterwards, all I see are dozens of lame-ass trolls and haters ragging the hell out of it. Seriously, I'm getting to the point where I just don't feel like coming here anymore, because anyone who likes a film either doesn't bother to post, or they've been scared-off by the hate-filled herd of holier-than-thou, nothings-good-enough-for-me wannabe movie critics.
Priest nailed it on every level for me, and I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to the DVD/Blu-Ray (especially for any extras that I'm hoping will be present), and really hope this is the beginning of a film franchise.
And don't give me that garbage about some of it not being realistic. Of course there are going to be elements that are fantastical and don't follow real-world physics, it's a freakin' fantasy/adventure movie. You don't see people saying, "Superman sucked. People can't fly! Sheesh!" I mean, really, the girl threw rocks into the air so he could step on them and gain elevation during a leap! It was hilariously unreal, but fit right into the mystique of the story and the mythos of the Priests. The whole thing was a total blast.
I especially loved how they wrote it like an old, classic spaghetti western, and then dressed it in an apocalyptic horror/scifi setting. I loved all the classic cliches they somehow managed to use and make them seem fresh again. I loved the too-rare-these-days happy ending, and was ecstatic over the whole "Empire Strikes Back" homage (-ish) end segment that leaves things wide-open for a sequel.
So all I can say is, if you didn't like it, fair enough, but man, it must suck to be you, cuz this movie was a lot of fun and you're totally missing out.
Edited: Fixed typo.
