I'll second that. My first job after college was with a retired Army full bird colonel who had started a small business. I don't have a military background and it was a bit of a culture shock because his management style was very, well, military. He was not a share your feelings kind of guy if you know what I mean. Anyway, you work at a small business and everyone pretty much knows everything about each other. I saw him go through marital difficulties, serious illness in the family, money problems, you name it. But the only time I ever saw him break down was when his Chocolate Lab hunting dog got sick and passed. As far as I'm concerned, nobody is immune to that particular heartbreak.
