1) As a European, around the end of Season 1 most of the world was fed up with it. As far as we saw, Americans had created yet another propaganda show blaming the middle-east and North Korea during their disgusting Iraq and Afghanistan wars. At the time we all kept laughing that since 2001 we had been told that "hating Americans was a fad" and other such pathetic nonsense they used to justify their illegal wars.

With the sudden advent of blaming Iran, all we saw were just another moronic attempt to justify their own ignorance. Akin to all your "ticking time bomb justifies torture" claims. The same anger towards such American ignorance and arrogance came from those in Australia and Canada as well.

So, while a small amount, the rest of the world suddenly lost interest in the show. Which cut off a lot of viewership for season two before it even started.

But hey, there's still the American audience, right?

2) Americans, in an ironic twist, started to stop watching the show in droves in season 2 because of the sheer number of conservative viewers suddenly finding the idea that a government or corporation could lead them into something like that to be abhorrent. Previously drawn to the show because of its "Patriotic" small town fighting for survival against terrorism, they suddenly found themselves in Season 2 to be facing the very opposite of their ignorant ideology.

These are effectively the reasons the shows viewers left and the show ended as it did.

I'm not sure audiences were really that fickle. I'm sure that had something to do with it, but I doubt that was the primary factor.

I'm sorry but your reasoning is way off. First off, the show was canceled before the end of season 1 and only brought back after a fan campaign. The second season was hardly promoted and was always intended to just give fans some closure.

Secondly, many, many shows from America with political storylines have the same propaganda and are very popular here in the states and abroad. The themes were hardly unique to Jericho. I mean look at a show like 24 that has been harshly criticized for it's portrayal of terrorism and it's "protect America at all costs" justifications and it was popular around the world for 8 seasond. There are many other examples I could point to.

Fact is, many factors contributed to people tuning out or never tuning in. It happens to many shows every year. However, Jericho has maintained a dedicated fanbase years longer than most shows years after being canceled after a short run.

I love how anti American the world claims to be, yet we are always the ones called upon to fix the worlds problems when no one else will step up. Hating us won't make your country any better.

Wait what?

No, no-one actually calls on you to do much. No-one really wanted you in Iraq, same goes for Afghanistan, same goes for the meddling on your own continent.

The U.S. are the big guys, so do what you want, I won't protest or complain. Correction: I won't protest so long as you stay away from Scandinavia. Should that ever happen, the peaceful little Norwegian I am will pick up a rifle as well.

No one calls on us to do much? Seriously are you high or just ignorant? You clearly have no grasp on the last 100 years or so of world history.

Iraq and Afghanistan were the only time that we have acted solely for our on benefit, after being attacked I might add. Almost every other military deployment by the US serves to benefit our allies more than us.

When's the last time Scandinavia has done anything to uphold the human rights of another nation? Don't worry I'll wait..... silence.

Quite genuinely, the idea of the USA as a global saviour that everyone is begging to get involved with the world's problem is an idea that is popular with Americans but has little basis elsewhere.

I'm not anti-war or anti-American, but America's global reputation is for warmongering in the middle east and arriving late to more obviously legitimate wars (i.e the world wars).

If these ideas sound far-fetched or bizarre to you then it's -you- who is ignorant of international perspectives.

Last I checked Scandinavia was a member of UN, your country voted for and participated in the invasion of afganistain. Did yyou forget that detail or just assuming americans dont know the facts. But you and the neo progressive/ socialists keep trying to make up history to suit your argument.

Jasongcroft thank you again for showing people how careless americans are. America is 200 billion dollars in debt why dont americans pay back what they owe before acting like you "save the world" borrowing from other countries pretty much stealing an then giving that money to another country. People should never thank america because it never comes out of american pockets. God bless every country

The characters assumed Iraq or Korea were responsible for the bombings because tension was arising between the two nations at the time that the first season aired. The sudden loss of recent news served to fuel their suspicion.
If you actually watched the show (or paid proper attention to it) you would know that the bombs were actually set off my a terrorist group based in America, operated by Americans.
The show wasn't about blaming Middle-Eastern countries for the world's troubles, it was about how a catastrophe can affect regular people.
Actually have an idea of what the source material is about before you get all preachy.
