I'm only on season one episode 12 but I somehow find them strikingly similar. Was The Walking Dead somehow inspired by this show?

It does have a very similar feel to TWD, I think if Jericho had been made 10 years later it would have been as successful, a couple of reasons; it often looks a bit cheap, CGI is now better / cheaper at creating realistic post apocalyptic environment, also studios no longer feel the need to make a 20+ episode series which I think hurts the pacing on Jericho.

The end of the world should be enough subject matter to make drama out of , without the current fad for adding zombies to everything.
