Most pathetic main character EVER

Seriously, did anybody go through a short phase in their teenage years that resembled this guy's entire pathetic existence?

I'm hoping somebody agrees with me. I've never seen a character seek attention and pity like this guy. You can tell the screenwriter must've based the story on himself a bit.

Who wants to watch a movie about a pastey writer with little life experience.

reading your comment made me realize how dumb people can be.
dude, it is a psychological disorder. now one is asking you to understand it, and if you don't it does not make it pathetic.
i feel bad for your boring stupid existence.

I know what it is, but he didn't have it. He was a self-enabling hypochondriac who didn't even bother getting a second opinion, and the doctor he was seeing was obviously in it for the money. You don't develop depersonalization at that age from a joint. He wanted something to be wrong with him so he could get attention and that's what I find pathetic.

ok, but what you wrote had nothing to do with the character. the writers wrote a story about a guy who has the illness, not a guy that is crying for attention. you can say that it is not a believable story, that the play writers are not good or the plot line is not coherent or whatever.. the character in my opinion has nothing to do with the problem of this movie.

by the way, I just now saw the dispute that was before i wrote my massage.
i now understand more of what you meant by some other massages. i think that you probably have a way with your words that pisses people off for some reason. but i take back my mean words.

Appreciated, but yeah, you could say that I don't find the story or the portrayal of depersonalization believable (which usually onsets in your teens and has no real correlation with marijuana use).

If you watch the movie believing there's nothing really wrong with the character, that his actions are totally unfounded, that he never really overcame any kind of adversity yet would complain to anyone who'd listen, I find that one does start to question his motives. Was he just looking for a reason to feel sorry for himself?

You don't start getting panic attacks in your thirties. If he was faking, was it just to get his parent's attention and maybe make them feel guilty, like so many spoiled suburban kids have done before him?

I can go on and on, and I have. But thanks for the understanding. I really, really hate this character :)
