One of the worst miscasts of all time

Its hard to see bigger screw ups with the casting than Tom Cruise as the title character. Cruise neither looks like nor physically resembles Reacher from the books nor is he that talented in playing multi-faced characters. Can anyone honestly think of a worst A-list casting choice for any movie within the last few years?

According to IMDB Trivia, Vince Vaughan was on the cards to play Reacher o_O

You kinda have a point, but there is a difference. At 5'7", Cruise can never be as strong as Reacher at 6'5", while Jackman's 6'3" can only make Wolverine stronger. Physical strength is a very big deal in Reacher books.

Fighting a religious war is like fighting over whose imaginary friend is better.

It's not about making him as strong, that's not what his character is really about. It's about the carnage he causes and Cruise portrayed this perfectly. As others have pointed out, size isn't everthing. It's speed and aggression to some extent. Being 6'5" counts for f-all if your opponents already smashed a brick into your temple. The fetishisation of his size is just bizarre to the point of being comical.

If impersonating a Police Officer is an offence, shouldn't actors be imprisoned?

And speaking of Jackman...Liev Schreiber (Sabertooth, and lately Ray Donovan) would have been a great choice to play Reacher. Instead, they chose Cruise and used One Shot to make MI: 4-1/2.

Keneau Reeves as Constatine. The character (from Hellblazer comic books) is a London bloke with blonde hair, with a strong resemblance to Sting, which is who the character's look is based. The stories are set in England. Reeves' Constatine is Reeves and the story is set in LA. Double whammy on miscasting. The actor and location.

Helen: Where you really going to shoot him?
Jack Reacher: I knew I wouldn't have to. One look at this guy and you know he'll do anything to survive. One look at me and you know I'm not bluffing.

Well, he got half of it right.

Leo DiCraprio was miscast in Wolf in Wall Street. Terrible choice. If you're gonna have the actor frequently make asides to the camera, and also do a voice-over narration, choose someone with a better voice.

On the other hand, he was perfectly cast in Who's Eating Gilbert's Grapes.

But if you never read the books he is fine as a former MP Major Iraq war vet.

He says as he jizzes over that very thought.

I'd venture to say MOST people that saw the movie NEVER read a Jack Reacher novel.

I think he was just fine in the role.
