how powerful is superman?

In the comics he can fly through stars, move planets out of thier orbits. In Man of steel a few rockets/missels can send him for a loop?

reply

In Man of Steel he is not very experienced and is trying to understand his own powers. He may not be as ‘charged’ or powerful as he was in the comics because of this. That’s my only thought on the matter really.

Superman's exact power level has varied up and down many times through the years. At his most powerful he could tow a string of planets joined by a chain through interstellar space. (please don't worry about the many physics issues with that), to merely being more powerful than a locomotive. His other powers have varied as well.

In this he looked like he was straining to hold up the oil rig when it was falling. But then he stacked a semi-truck and trailer like they were toys.

Later in Justice League, he carried a whole apartment building. Not sure how it held together, he must have good balance.

His x-ray vision could have immediately deduced that the concrete, steel and rebar would hold up for the flight.

Superman is all powerful. Luckily he doesn't know that. He is hampered by his "mortal" existence with human scum.

There's a comic I always wanted to write where Batman makes sure to keep Lois headgaming Clark so he never realizes his true potential. He doesn't manipulate Superman. He manipulates his squeeze. There's a sub-story where Catwoman is manipulated by Riddler to do the same to Batman.
