It was a foregone conclusion that he was going to run right through the protagonists. There was no suspense at all. They needed to give the heroes a chance to prevail.

My biggest problem was the writing.Taking a hostage and chaining her up in his secret underground lair.Did they even bother to watch the previous films.Jason doesn't take hostages.

It’s weird to watch part 2 now and see how vulnerable he really was back then. He was just a backwoods madman and not the invulnerable monster he would become. Part 2 has become one of my favorite in the series for that very reason.
