Am i the only one who liked LWW better?!

Am i?!

No. Many people liked LWW much better.

This one, for me, failed as a Narnia adaptation as well as a movie in general.

Was there a book in between these two or something? Because If you haven't seen the first film, I bet you'd be confused as *beep*. I SAW the first one, and I still don't know what's going on. Why did Aslan hide all of a sudden, how are the kids 1300 years old, why is there humans who hate magic running all over ala Tanimura, and who is the fourth kid when there are three in the first one?

In the end, Okonkwo threw the Cat.

reply

No you are not. I liked it much more. I was very bored with Prince Caspian as there was nothing interesting in the plot.

reply

No I prefered LWW as well because it had a more magical feel about it. In this one when they went to Narnia it could easily have been any film in the same genre.

"...who is the fourth kid when there were three in the first one?"

What are you talking about? There were four kids in LWW. Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy.

The ratings on both movies are almost equal here on imdb, except The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe has 7.0 stars, while Prince Caspian has 6.9 stars. Not much difference, but TWW is still on the lead.

No, you're not the only one, I liked the first one better, too.

Of course you're not the only one. I loved LWW better too. I mean, I loved PC as well...but LWW had more of a magical feeling to it.

I don't waltz at all. It's embarrassing and a little gay.

reply

Nope, I lover LWW (One of my favorite movies) - It was so beautiful and magical.

This movie at times was annoying with Peter being a Jerk and no Aslan for most of the movie.

The first Narnia movie originally had an average of like 7.8 and everyone loved it. But afte Prince Caspian came out and people didnt like it, it caused them to dislike the series in general and discover things they didnt like about the first movie that they had overlooked before because at the time they had liked the series.

VotDT will probably be better then Prince Caspian. Prince Caspian was good, but I hate how they couldnt choose a tone. They wanted a dark action movie, to attract teenagers, and yet they wanted to add in cheesy kid humor to keep the kids happy. The result was a mixed bag that while never bad, just felt akward. On top of that they decide to throw in a random romance during the LAST MINUTE of the movie to attract the Twilight crowd and they have a modern pop song to go with it.

I think if they cut the kid humor, developed the romance (there were some deleted scenes), add in BLOOD on the swords (when you ram a sword through a person it doesnt come out shiny), and had given it a PG-13 rating it would have been a better film.

I agree.
I could sit through LWW, but had to force myself to make it through
the awful PC.
If I weren't such a big fan of the original books I may have been more tolerant of the flaws, but with the total loss of the story, added cheese & bad acting.
The 2nd film is one I will never watch again.

I also preferred the first movie.

Absolutely hated the first one, gave it a 3/10. It kept putting me to sleep and was very boring. Prince Caspian I actually liked, not spectacular, but gave it a 7/10. Much better film

If you're serious breathwillowmist2000, you're the first person I've seen here who hated LWW.

Yeah I never liked the first movie. Always hated it since it came out. Last night I gave Prince Caspian a try as there was absolutely nothing else on the TV at the time. Had never watched it as since I did not like the first I doubted that I would like the 2nd.

I honestly really liked the 2nd, thought it was pretty good. The first one dragged for me and I never got into it. To this day I still can't sit through the whole thing. I can watch the beginning and than I typically pass out an hour in. I have seen the ending but thats usually cause someone wakes me up as a few people have put it on when I am over at their house.

Not sure what it is about the plot or lack there of in my opinion but it can't hold my interest compared to the 2nd Narnia movie.

I'm willing to say that I like LWW the least of all the books. It's great, of course!

And over the years, I've chosen different books as faves.

But, as a published critic on fantasy works, not that that means much here, I'll say that I adore MANY things about LLW, in both the book and the film. I adore the loyalty to the book, for one thing. And I adore the lamppost and the wonderful depiction of Tumnus the Faun, and Aslan is just brilliant ... and I really do love almost everything about the film; it's just that I think the sequel is far more fun and exciting.

And I want us all to applaud and encourage the producers to keep making more films!

Love to all of my fellow Narnia fans out there!

I liked the first one better. The second one was too long tried, too hard, and was simply not as epic.

I did like the King Miraz duel and resurrection of the White Witch, but besides those scenes Prince Caspian is just entertaining and seemed like a fantasy stock film. Too many bad things going for it, mainly everything that happens with Susan.

reply

Personally I liked the PC much better. The difference here in IMDB seems to be that LWW started off with a much higher rating than PC. Ironically, LWW's rating has been trendind down whereas PC's rating is more slowly trending up, so that now their ratings are almost identical.

reply

Definitely not the only one. LWW was so much more magical and happy than this one in my opinion. In this movie with Peter being such a selfish jerk (especially with killing his soldiers), just made this move not as enjoyable. I still liked it but LWW was one of my favorite movies.

reply

I agree with you. this one was boring with lifeless acting.
