I also think he sucked. Some of you say that he didn't have much of a role, but so is the case with other actors, yet I found most of them more believable than Pacino.
On the other hand, I completely disagree that his last good roles are from 80's. He's got a lot of very good role in 90's, but he lost touch in 00's, with the exception of The Merchant of Venice.
How on earth can you say he sucked in this?????? He was great. Didn't you even see the movie? Not every Pacino film (or a film with Pacino) is going to be like the past roles he's done. Are you are going by Serpico and Scarface only? Or City Hall?? Two for the money? Come on folks get with it. He can't yell and scream in EVERY film!! He's a very talented guy with a wide range (clearly you don't see that!!! Are you blind?)
Oh, and whoever said "He just did it to collect a paycheck" should be banned from ever seeing movies again!! There is no place for you here. G'BYE.
Check out "Looking For Richard', Chinese Coffee, City Hall, and you'll see just how great he is. Oh, and check out "Ocean's 13" to see how great he is in that one!!!!!
A 12-year old Benjamin Linus just brought me a sandwich. How do you think I'm doing?
The first time I saw Ocean's 13 I thought he did a kinda poor job. However, on subsequent viewings I enjoy his character and can't imagine anyone else as Banks.
Al is getting old and his intensity has suffered a bit, to expect his best performance now would be unfair. We should simply be happy we get to see him at all. He's like a classic Mustang... May not be the fastest on the track, but to hear his engine roar is still a treat.
I think he did the best he could with the script written for that character. They didn't really develop him at all besides 'ruthless businessman'. Pacino's performance isn't very memorable because they didn't let him add his own flair to the role.
