Favorite I Shouldn't Be Alive episode?

What's (are) your favorite episode(s), and why?

Mine were the "Trapped Under the Ice" and "Crash in a Volcano."

The reason I liked "Trapped Under the Ice" so much was because the son was smart enough to leave and seek for help, but not stupid enough to go on when he sees the big river. He was finally saved when a passing private plane sees him. The father was very smart as well. He was smart enough to give their only lighter to his son, and when his shelter caught fire, he remembered to keep one burning log to keep a fire going. Oh, and not to mention that in the beginning, the son knew what to do to his father who was suffering from hypothermia. They deserved to live!

I liked "Crash in a Volcano" because well actually, I actually don't remember why. But they got saved at different times, and throughout the whole time, they had no idea if the others were still alive. It was such a great episode, too.

TRAPPED UNDER THE ICE
The Dilemma: Could you leave your dad alone in a wilderness full of grizzlies to save his life?

A father and son on a summer rafting trip in Alaska hit a freak stretch of ice. Their raft flips over and both men are dragged under the ice by the fast running river. They survive the ordeal only to find themselves without shelter or food in freezing wet clothing in one of North America's remotest spots. The son leaves his dad to set out on an epic and perilous hike over mountains and rivers, along the way fending off grizzly bears. In a stroke of pure luck, after days alone, he is spotted by a lone passing plane and must reach his dad before it's too late.

CRASH IN A VOLCANO
The Survivors: Mike Benson, Chris Duddy and Craig
The Dilemma: Could you survive a helicopter crash into an inferno?

A Hollywood camera crew taking helicopter shots over a live volcano experiences engine failure and crash-lands into the erupting mountain. They survive only to find themselves just yards from molten lava. Alone and suffocating from the crater's poisonous gasses, each man makes his own bid for escape, thinking the others are dead. But are they?

The one I actually found the most compelling is the episode (don't know the title) where the female jogger falls into a canyon and shatters her pelvis. It's one of the more hardcore "bad injury" episodes (I cannot imagine the kind of pain that would come with splitting your entire skeleton in half). It shows that even the most skilled, athletic people can get themselves into serious trouble. (Though by the same token it was probably her athletic ability that saved her life.) That, and the fact that she was a lone female, which I don't see too often in this show (though admittedly I haven't watched a whole lot of episodes). Not suggesting that there SHOULD be more females, of course, it's just that...I dunno, I guess I just felt more of a connection to her, as cheesy and trite as that sounds.

Ahh, kamisama! watashi no atama ni ono ga arimasu!

I'm so addicted to this show, how do i pick only one...

The Volcanoe one -- the guy that stuck his arms into the side of the volcanoe and crawled out, only to find the rescue camp crew vacated (thanks, rescuers)

The Grand Canyon -- this wasn't my favorite because it had a sad ending, but it was one of the most memorable. I was shocked one of the teens died (I didn't know they would do stories with people dying!). I think this one just made me mad, overall, that those 14 & 15 yr old boys were put in that position. I mean, sometimes you watch this show and think it should be titled "I Shouldn't Be An Idiot" because people put themselves in risky situations, but these young teens were just trusting their adult leaders.

The Jogger Who Split Her Pelvis -- Yeah, that was amazing that she hung on with an injury that severe and in that severe of temperatures, and then of course, it's great that the dog leads the rescuers to her

The Palm Springs Hikers -- I just liked the end of this one.... how he set the fire using the matches of a hiker who had passed on a year earlier. It was touching how that man's death & supplies came back around to help save the couple.

i agree with mccabegabe regarding the grand canyon episode... i had no idea anyone ever died on the show before seeing that episode, so i was quite shocked and saddened over the boy's death!

i just saw the episode where the people got stranded in the shark infested water yesterday and thought it was great (in a sad way). i realized about 20 minutes into it that not everyone made it out alive because only 2 people were giving commentary... i had a feeling the girl that got injured early on wouldn't make it, but i didn't know what was going to happen to the other 2 men... i was in total shock when they both seemingly went nuts and jumped right into the water... it was so horrifying and reminded me why u seriously should NEVER drink salt water!!

i also like the shattered pelvis episode and the episode where the divers get lost in the ocean... that one is just soooo terrifying because ur 100% helpless against predators in the water.

for the sake of humanity, i hope that ur a troll

McCabe, I think that's my favorite. I live in Palm Springs and I've been on the Palm Springs tram many times (I had a March-September pass). I really can't understand why the couple felt it necessary to hike off one of the beaten paths. Yeah, there are a few different marked trails available once the tram takes you to it's destination. At first I thought, you must be kidding, they really have a show dedicated to dangerous hiking in the Palm Springs mountains? Then, when I saw that the couple had discovered a dead body (off the trail of course) up there I was stunned.

At least they didn't eat him.

"Hike in to Hell Canyon". Amazing how this girl stayed alive for 3 weeks. It was like someone's worse nightmare wandering around the canyon and getting nowhere.

I'd have to say either "Escape From The Amazon" or "Shark Survivors"

"Escape From The Amazon" is the first episode I ever saw and it got me hooked on the show. I have always loved how the odds were so against either of them being found and how Kevin took finding Yossi into his own hands and in the end it was what saved his life. But this episode also leaves me with chills every time I watch it. I always had the feeling from the start of the episode that there was really something not right about Karl Ruprechter and I questioned whether there really was the 'Indian village' he claimed he could take them to. Then at the end of the episode where it is revealed they never found Karl or Markus and that Karl had been known to take hikers off into the jungle and leaving them there multiple times. They searched many times over the next few years for Markus but never found any trace of him.

"Shark Survivors" was such an intense episode and it was so dreadful that not only they didn't all survive, but the way that each of them died was equally as dreadful.
