Favorite I Shouldn't Be Alive episode?

What's (are) your favorite episode(s), and why?

Mine were the "Trapped Under the Ice" and "Crash in a Volcano."

The reason I liked "Trapped Under the Ice" so much was because the son was smart enough to leave and seek for help, but not stupid enough to go on when he sees the big river. He was finally saved when a passing private plane sees him. The father was very smart as well. He was smart enough to give their only lighter to his son, and when his shelter caught fire, he remembered to keep one burning log to keep a fire going. Oh, and not to mention that in the beginning, the son knew what to do to his father who was suffering from hypothermia. They deserved to live!

I liked "Crash in a Volcano" because well actually, I actually don't remember why. But they got saved at different times, and throughout the whole time, they had no idea if the others were still alive. It was such a great episode, too.

TRAPPED UNDER THE ICE
The Dilemma: Could you leave your dad alone in a wilderness full of grizzlies to save his life?

A father and son on a summer rafting trip in Alaska hit a freak stretch of ice. Their raft flips over and both men are dragged under the ice by the fast running river. They survive the ordeal only to find themselves without shelter or food in freezing wet clothing in one of North America's remotest spots. The son leaves his dad to set out on an epic and perilous hike over mountains and rivers, along the way fending off grizzly bears. In a stroke of pure luck, after days alone, he is spotted by a lone passing plane and must reach his dad before it's too late.

CRASH IN A VOLCANO
The Survivors: Mike Benson, Chris Duddy and Craig
The Dilemma: Could you survive a helicopter crash into an inferno?

A Hollywood camera crew taking helicopter shots over a live volcano experiences engine failure and crash-lands into the erupting mountain. They survive only to find themselves just yards from molten lava. Alone and suffocating from the crater's poisonous gasses, each man makes his own bid for escape, thinking the others are dead. But are they?

The one where they were trapped in the river of crocs was my favorite. But I've only seen 2 episodes so far...

I'd have to say:

Shark Survivor
At least, I think this is the episode.
When a violent storm rips apart a yacht heading from Maine to Florida, the crew clings to life on a 12-foot inflatable boat. As sharks try to flip the small boat over, the deteriorating crew must decide whether to leave someone behind to die.

A Walk in Hell
This is the episode where three fifteen-year-olds had to survive three days in the Grand Canyon on little water and rescue the rest of their boyscout troop. I find it amazing that young boys found the strength to endure. Only a year older, I am 95% sure that I would have given up long ago. It was an amazing episode.

These are my favorite episodes, I think, because they are such phenomenal feats. They don't seem possible.... and then these survivors come and tell you that it is possible to survive such an ordeal. These stories really end up touching you, but they're absolutely terrible. They are mind-baffling in every aspect, and that is all of the show's appeal.

Really? I've never even heard of that one. I haven't seen all of the episodes (or even close yet). Do you remember when it aired?

Well my favorite episodes are the ones where the people are trapped out in the middle of the ocean. Actually I just saw my second episode of I Shouldn't Be Alive and it was where these four guys crash their plane in the middle of the ocean near Mexico and one of them tries to swim for shore. The first episode I ever saw was one where a man and a woman, two buddy divers, are left out in the middle of ocean by their imcompotent tour boat. I was thinking "I wonder if all the episodes are about people in the ocean". If so it would be my favorite show because the movie that got me into this show was Open Water. For the season premiere last year, the commercial right away caught my eye because it was a similar storyline. I missed it though.

I think this is one of the ones you mentioned but the episode where 2 couples are stranded on a raft (not sure why, missed the first 10 min) and only 2 make it. One of the unlucky ones goes a little crazy and starts speaking in "tongues", very freaky.

That's my FAVORITE one,and it was my first one I saw=)

Lost In The African Bush

That man went through all levels of hell. He survives a plane crash only to injure himself even more when he jumped out. Then, he had to crawl away with broken legs because he feared the plane would explode, only to have to crawl back when he remembers to check the radio. The radio is broken, leading him to have to crawl back away from the plane. He then realizes his foot is swelling and has to remove his shoelaces with a stick to get his shoe off. This takes him 2 1/2 hours!

He then realizes that he has to crawl BACK! to the plane or bake in the sun! He flips his body over to crawl faster, only to break his pelvis. Then, a herd of elephants nearby lead him to believe he is about to be trampeled to death.

After scaring the elephants away, he has leg spasms that cause the broken bones in his legs to stab the muscles in his body. Not to mention a close call with a lion with cubs. The only time he teared up while telling his story is when he mentioned his rescue. It was a very powerful and horrific ordeal.

I like him. He says okie dokie.

I read these boards quite a bit and I rarely run across a post that's this well crafted. Bravo!!!

I don't have time to jaw with anyone who won't identify himself!

Yeah, that was my favorite too. I am 15 right now, and I never would've been able to endure that. That was a heartwrenching episode. Definitely the best I've seen.

My favorite is the one about the skiing trip somewhere in Europe (I think it was), where the US soldier and his sons went out, and then he and his pretty young son got stranded. I felt so bad for him, worrying about his kid. Then I felt really bad when he left his kid to go for help -- bad for the poor kid sitting several days in the cave by himself, and bad for the father worrying about his son but physically unable to get back and help. Of course, I realized the kid would live, not only because he was doing a voiceover but it would be cruel to show that story and have the kid die. But what a gutwrenching choice to have to make as the father!!

reply

My favourite one was the one where some people got lost at sea and they were floating in a raft.

reply

Not too cruel to have the kid die. Have you seen the Grand Canyon episode entitled "A Walk in Hell"?

Escape from the amazon
Shark survivor
A walk into hell

Not sure why these are my favorites but they are.

Lost in the Amazon is my favourite.

reply

Escape from Amazon definitely.

17 days in the jungle is really very veyr long.

Haven't seen that many episodes, but the one I'm watching now (Into the Heart of Darkness) is pretty good.

EVIL PINEAPPLES
Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.

Alaskan Avalanche. Two guys climbing a mountain encounter an avalanche, one gets hurt bad. Avalanche hits them again, taking them down the mountain a ways. Another avalanche hits them, down they go again. That's just the beginning. A plane comes along with a gutsy pilot and a very pregnant lady to save them and crash lands into the valley. Great narration by the one guy hurt in the first avalanche.

reply

Shark Survivors. That episode was sad...Only 2 survivors out of 5

reply

I agree. "Shark survivors" was one of the most intense episodes I have ever seen. So sad. Remember how the salt water made the people delirious and they just walked off the raft into the shark infested waters! So scary and really sad.

reply

Between Shark Survivors and Walk in Hell. I actually cried when i watched Walk In Hell it was just so tragic for those kids... Shark survivors just seemed unreal, all those sharks hunting them... scary thing man.
