Highly underrated.

I am shocked to see that both critics and users do not care for this film. Yes it suffers the same faulty features of the first film, such as Tim Story's direction and illogical dialogue, but it is fairly entertaining. It contains nicely done action sequences and a nice subplot with the whole altering powers. Many will disagree, but I thought, at least compared to the first, it's a very good picture.

After rewatching both recently, I liked Evans' humour in 1 better but i far preferred 2 and the action in it overall.

I like Julian McMahon but indeed, he was wrong for Doom, in fact Doom was the main Downfall of 2.

1 Had far too few action bits and dragged quite a bit, as well as some poor green screen effects (particularly the bridge catastrophe scene).

The second one if anything was too short.

I kind of agree with IMDB on the first one, i reckon it's an average film a 5.5/10.

But the rating on 2 is brutal. It really does deserve a 7/10 IMO and is an overall enjoyable bit of fantasy entertainment.

And yeah, the silver surfer was way cool, and I had no main issues with the FX in 2.

Ironic how number 2 was the better movie, but barely broke even and has a lower rating here than number 1. It just doesn't make sense.

I agree with you, I honestly didn't think the movie was that bad, and neither was the first one. I thoroughly enjoyed both movies, they were both entertaining, both had some cool action scenes and the writing was not bad. I also thought the casts did a good job with their roles too...well, Jessica Alba isn't that good of an actress, but she wasn't "terrible" either, I thought all the other actors did a good job with what they were given.
As popcorn flicks, I thought both movies were thoroughly entertaining, I would happily watch these movies again...if they had made a 3rd movie, I definitely would've watch it.

After seeing the trailers for the reboot I wish a 3rd movie was made all they had to do is recast sue and johnny(since chris was cast as capt america),but keep the other 3

Yeah, this film is underrated.

It's definitely better than the 2004 origin story. It had good action sequences and spectacle, and the scriptwriter remembered it was supposed to have inner and outer conflict and a grand finale. Galactus was underwhelming and the whole pissing contest between Mr Fantastic and the military dude could have been left on the cutting room floor. Also, that scene at the end where Sue Storm DIED needed a whole lot more emotion. But it was still worth watching to the end credits.

Undemanding but watchable and cheesy as hell.

Definitely the most underrated and one of the best Marvel movies.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a comic collector from way back and FF was one of my favorite titles. That being said, of all the comic movies that have come out, I don't really love any of them. Most I just find boring and that is due to the characters being so bland and boring.

This one was truly rough on me. Here's this chance to do something interesting with Dr. Doom, Galactus and the Silver Surfer and it's just not there. Silver Surfer is tough as he is rather wooden to begin with, but I thought there could have been some cool special effects given his abilities. Not just flying upside down and through buses, knocking down a missile, blowing up a few toys. It just bores me. At no point was I wowed. Of course Galactus was much worse, just showing up as a big devouring cloud. A total waste there. Dr. Doom was played decently and was probably the bright spot. Finally someone a little interesting, but they could have done much more with him.

People say they are happy without the dark tone of some other comic book movies, but I think this went overboard with the campiness and the laughs. To each his own I guess.

The dialogue was weak at times as well. Although I felt that the repartee between Storm and Grimm was actually the best part of the movie. Alba is taking a lot of flak and I agree that the blonde blue eyed version is just distracting. She actually looks like a comic book character, but Susan Storm was never that interesting to me to begin with so I'll give her a pass there.

What makes a movie entertaining in my opinion is how good the individual scenes are. This one just has one boring scene after another.
