I agree. Alot of people also whine about the acting. When I first saw the movie as a kid I loved it, and I thought the actors/actresses were really good. Now that I'm a tad bit more grown up, I begin to see flaws with the movie; the acting, characters, cheesiness etc. The movie that once were my favourite, and that I thought was perfect, I don't really care for now, why? Because I grew up. The whole point of this movie is that it is for kids, and I think it's ridicilous when adults keep complaining about a movie that wasn't aimed at them.

P.S. I'm sorry for grammatical, and spelling errors, english isn't my native language.

I thought this movie was adorable, and I'm in my 20's!

Are you implying that it doesn't matter if a movie is good as long as it distracts the children with a bunch of pretty colors and horrible singers?

Really old post but still valid:

"A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest."

Why not?

Deal with it, High School Musical would be had been boring if everyone liked it.
I remember Justin Bieber getting hate when he was only 15 with his first song "One Time".

I meant the statement about children stories not being good when only children enjoy them and adults dont.

I dont see a truth nor a reason behind that.

I'm sorry, but "It's not made for you" has never been and will never be a good excuse for poor filmmaking. The fact that it's made for kids doesn't have any effect on its quality itself. Look at newer Disney movies like Frozen and Zootopia: both made for kids, but both really great. Saying "it's made for kids so it's okay if it sucks" is one of the worst--and somehow most common--counterarguments I've ever seen. It demeans kids by saying that they're dumb enough that they'll accept anything, and encourages other filmmakers to make more crap like Norm of the North, because, hey, it's a kids' film so it's free from judgment!

With that in mind, High School Musical wasn't as horrendously awful as most people claim it was. I just found it bland and boring. I haven't seen any of the sequels, though, so I can't speak for them.

There are plenty of movies that entertain both adults and children (Shrek, The Incredibles, Ninja Turtles, How To Train Your Dragon). Adults are allowed to give their opinion to advise other adults before watching a dumb movie like this. No one is stopping kids from enjoying it.
