So, the moral of the story is what?

Don't help anyone because they may turn out to be bad guys later?

If you help someone and those people go on to hurt other people you're responsible for their actions?

Be a selfish bastard and only think of your own welfare and ignore the suffering of other people?

reply

Not sure if there was a moral per se here, other than a look at the law of unintended consequences.

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

Never trust a Muslim.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

One person can make a difference.

And, it was a pretty entertaining story about how Wilson was able to wage a war during the cold war without anybody really knowing.

When the window of democratic opportunity is open and the people/situation are open to change, don't run away and drop the ball. If US foreign policy wasn't so two-faced and clued-out, the Taliban would not be around today.

Not at all. Don't let the Left try to turn the triumph into evil. A tragic aftermath is possible in every war. After all, the last book of Winston Churchill's series on World War Two, "Triumph and Tragedy", was about the subsequent rise of the Soviet menace just as the Nazi one was defeated.

I suppose the morals of the story are:
1. Follow through
2. It is possible to win the war but lose the subsequent peace

The moral is America is still a child when it comes to realpolitik. They should have just asked the British (who have had 300 years experience of running a worldwide empire) for advice.

Moral of story: Don't be a naive ahole and believe the mainstream media BS about 9/11, anti-muslim propaganda, and that Charlie did it all by himself. Look into it all a little and most importantly, try thinking for yourself and not buying into lies.

Most people in the US buy into whatever they are told to believe. Why do you think other countries have a low opinion of Americans? The actions of the government has everything to do with the desires of the 1%.
