When will people realise
That by giving a film a title such as this , it makes it really hard to track down on IMDB? The search engine throws up all sorts of ambiguities.
We, the users of IMDB deserve better.

My thoughts exactly. Having three films with such similar titles in the same year has really made things confusing when I try to talk about any one of those films. I have to clarify which one I'm talking about (shorthand, I say "9 the post-apocalyptic animated film," "Nine the musical," and "District 9, the sci-fi film about evicted aliens").

One would think you would be too embarrassed to admit that saying: "9 the animated film" causes you such confusion. Please think twice before procreating.
I agree that it can be REALLY confusing! I saw that "9" is available on PPV, but then I thought that there was another movie by the same name still in theaters. Imagine going to a video rental store (later in the year when they're both out) asking if they have "9". "Uh, which one?" they ask. "There's more than one?"
I guess we'll have to know who's in the movie in order to find the one we want!

I've typed like 4 or 5 things before finding this film on IMDB. I first typed the title of the film in letters, but I got the musical XD It's so stupid that both films have the same title but that you have to search for one in letters and for the other in numbers!! share
Hm, I had no difficulty finding this title. Remembering the name of the movie was a numeral helped immensely. From there, it was simply a matter of remembering which year it was released. Not that hard, people.
shareIn this age of the internet it is really stupid to give a name like "9" to a movie. Try looking for any information about the movie in a google search and it is almost impossible.
I typially search for "9 elijah wood" or something, but Im sure that misses a lot.
I came to IMDb, typed "9" and this film is the first entry. What's all the fuss about?
Alternatively, type "9 the movie" into Google's search engine and at the moment, the first page is full of links about this film excepting one entry for District 9.
Come on guys, this is hardly rocket science.
Artists should be free to title their works as they please, the sad fact is most directors and authors ultimately have no or little say in the titles of their works. That decision is mostly made by the film studios and publishers.
I seriously doubt that IMDB's collating scheme has any effect on how producers and directors name films.
shareI also frequent an indexing site called NZBMatrix. Looking up this movie on that site is truly a pain because it will say "you must enter at least characters".
shareThis movie was easy to find. I had trouble finding District 9. All I knew was that is was an area and then 9. So, I typed in 'Area 9', 'Section 9' and some others. I found it eventually.
share"9" in Google gave me this movie as its first link.
