Other Figures in history that ought to get the 'John Adams Treatment'

There are so many, but I truly believe there should be a miniseries, such as in the style of John Adams, made about Boss Tweed.

Boss Tweed encompassed a dramatic portion of American History during the civil war and reconstruction era. Also, Tweed and his connection with Tammany Hall is a major part of history, detailing political corruption at its worst.

Also the supporting list of characters would detail a large portion of history that is commonly forgotten by most. These would be people like:

Samuel Tilden
Thomas Nast
Oakley Hall
Peter Sweeney
Richard Connolly
Horatio Seymour
George Jones
Jimmy O'Brien

Who else do you think deserves the "John Adams Treatment" and why? I am curious to see what others think.

I like the idea of Boss Tweed. Always been fascinated by him.

I wish someone would do a miniseries on Andrew Jackson. Really could have a great story of early American history and could show a factually accurate and moving depiction of the Battle of New Orleans. I really think a modern day depiction of the famous Battle of New Orleans should be done. A miniseries on Jackson could detail that plus have the Creek War, his duels, his controversial marriage to Rachel Jackson, his invasion of Florida, and his presidency all rolled into one. That would be quite a story and really show a different and fascinating side of America.

Madison, an important President whom most people know nothing about.

Douglas MacArthur. Much more could be done on MacArthur than was depicted in the Gregory Peck film. There could be so much American history (especially military) depicted it would be staggering in scope. From the American west of the 1880s to the 1960s. Also the controversial Bonus Army marches could be shown and the bad actions MacArthur and our government took in handling that situation. Also his actions in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War and his firing by President Truman to his final speech at West Point in 1962. His story could be a 10 to 12 part HBO series and would be epic if done correctly.

I'd like to see one on George McClellan. He was the top general in the Union Army and had all the resources to win the war, but he didn't. Then he challenged Lincoln for the presidency and lost. There's surely hours of drama to be culled from that, right?

How about a dual treatment of Grant and Lee? Pick them both up at the beginning of the war (Lee as a respected colonel, Grant working at the leather-goods store) and follow their parallel careers all the way up to their final meeting? Maybe with Viggo Mortenson as Grant and Jeremy Irons as Lee.

Would love to see this. So many Americans have heard the names, but know so little about the men.

Being a Texan I would love to see a miniseries made about Sam Houston, the father of Texas.

Either Jackson or Madison would be great, but also any of the Presidents would be great to see done like Adams was.

Superman04028, I came here to make the very same suggestion - Sam Houston! I am glad that I am not alone. "The Raven" was quite an interesting man.
