Why does the black dude have to play the convict?

Black maid and I think michael pena is even a servant of some sort...

I'm sure Eddie Murphy was interested in the role because it's the funniest in the movie. He's great as the foul-mouthed thief and his talents would be wasted if he was cast as the corrupt banker. In fact, the vast majority of the lead characters were originally supposed to be African American, but the creators decided to change it after Ben Stiller signed on.

That's the joke. It's not so much about a black man playing the convict, as it is about a white guy who doesn't know anything about crime assuming that black people are experts on the matter. Even if said black man never committed a crime on that scale. As Jamie Foxx's character in Horrible Bosses pointed out, Well, you are a moron. You don't walk into a bar and hand a guy five thousand dollars just because he's black.

I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.

it's called statistics

well, apparently Eddie Murphy doesn't find it racist or any of the other black actors who play supposed "racist" roles.

I'm guessing Eddie Murphy was cast because there's NO ONE who can play a street wise wise-cracking ex-con better than Eddie Murphy. I'm sure you probably realize that but prefer to blame everything on racism.

Stupid. What do you mean the black dude? His name is Eddie Murphy. You are being more disrespectful to him than the movie is to black people.

"Remember when I promised to kill you last?"

You ARE "over sensitive or playing the race card".

"Harry !!...your hands are freezing !"

reply

Because E.M. signed up to play the part.

The minority talents in this movie play characters that are ultimately heroes.
