God i'm so sick of the strong women movement right now

Supernatural even had to shove that shit down our throats in the latest episode. That ending was so cringe with all the women sitting around the table smiling "All these strong amazing women saved the helpless men".

The Golden Globes was taken over by that shit and now tv shows are shoving it in our face.

I have no issues with women being strong and all that shit but for fucks sake shut the fuck about it already. I don't need that shit rammed down my throat with everything i watch on tv.

That was a cringe worthy line, yes. But at some point Claire is going to be kicked in the head or something - hopefully.

But that aside

1) Wayward daughters, so much better than Bloodlines. It could do with making Alex the main young female rather than Claire but its just starting

2) The guys are getting older, they are allowed to do less.

And with regards of strong women being rammed down your throat. Oh FFS we've had strong stoic men rammed down our throats rammed down our throats for as long as media has been about. If I don't lose my shit over that, you can get over strong women being about.

It's more than just strong women being about.There's always been strong female characters.It's the ridiculous over emphasis their putting on strong women characters.The constant incessive nausea inducing girl power feminist messaging clogging up the airwaves lately.I have nothing against feminism personally.But i watch tv and movies purely for the entertainment value.Not to have feminist agenda seminars shoveled down my throat.

Exactly horrorfan, it is indeed the agenda and over emphasis thats so annoying, i have nothing against feminism, but when everything on tv you see is shoving that agenda down your throat it gets annoying.

Soon as i saw the intro recap showing all the women looking bad ass i knew what kind of episode this was gonna be "Oh boy here we go with another feminist agenda message yay...".

Claire is too much, I will give you.

But this whole, 'I'm fed up with your feminist agenda' is something I am fed up of.

When I was a kid we had shows that had that featured men, about men and when there was a female character they were basically an bland character that in some cases had a revolving door of actresses playing her. Any strong females where background fodder, to be rolled out when they needed best friend, canon fodder or authority figure.

I suffered through that for years, so what if you can't handle if female characters suddenly do more than stand in the corner attempt shit and then a man comes in and ends up solving/saving the day, I can't sympathise.

Though even today, with the so called feminist agenda a lot shows can't make up their minds what they want to be.

Is the female character strong or the reward for the strong man at the end of the day. Hell even Laurel Lance's deathbed scene in Arrow involved her going on about how Oliver was the love of her life, even if she wasn't his. Come on that...sucked. Black Siren, decent character. But low she is now conflicted due to her having to deal with her dad's dopplegander and the face of the guy she loved. Why? Can't she just be a cool villain?

Vampire diaries - not a brilliant show but its main female character seemed to not really do much outside pick one of two brothers. Actually preferred the show when she was gone.

As for Supernatural, they are risking turning Claire into another Charlie and Charlie was a shit character in the end. It was Mary Sueing at its finest.

The episode shows potential, just tone down Claire or replace her.

Yeah well at least you didn't have the men giving speeches about being powerful alpha males like the women in shows today blatantly saying "We are powerful strong women". They didn't have an agenda focusing on the males being strong, they just was.

Why can't the women just be strong without having that blatant agenda shoving it down our throats? They have to tell us in big bold letters with bright lights "We're strong powerful women!" yeah ok we get it now shut up about it and just be that.

I think your missing the point.No ones complaining about strong female characters.I love strong female characters.Keep them coming i say.It's the constant feminist agenda preaching that gets old real fast.Entire episodes of shows where the women pat themselves on the back and preach about girl power and use terms like hashtag feminism.Or have entire lines of dialogue explaining why their powerful and don't need men.Buffy is one of the most iconic strong female characters of all time.Never did i watch an episode of Buffy and feel like it was preaching feminism to me.

Exactly, i have no issue with strong women, i love Ripley from the Alien movies, Sarah Connor from Terminator 2, Buffy from BTVS, more recently Eleven from Stranger Things. Theres countless strong female roles i'm a fan of.

I mean its not exactly like there was never any strong female characters in movies and tv shows i have no idea where people are getting that from. Theres always been strong women in films for as far back as i can remember, its not like it was just men rescuing women in peril. Only difference is back then they wasn't preaching to us like "Look at us we're strong women!!" like they do today for some reason.

It only bothers me when it's extremely forced and unrealistic. A 100lb woman is never going to walk into a room and beat the tar out of 3 large burly men. I don't care how strong and juiced up on "girl power" she is. Has never, and will never happen anywhere outside of Hollywood-land.

Lol you should never watch Agent's Of Shield then, countless scenes of small women single handedly kicking multiple grown mens asses. Then again it is a superhero show so its not exactly gonna have the most realistic shit in it.

I don't see it that way. It's nice to see a show with an all female and two female lead cast. For once the show knew how to write women, as in the past it was heavy that women were a bit put down and kept in their place. I thought the show was brave to launch an all female cast, and to see women fight tough men was a nice surprise. That women can fight. I think Claire is beginning to settle down, and once the stories get going, I think she well gently fit in the background and not be so prominent. Unless Dabb turns her into another Charlie which we don't want to see either. But I was happy with the way the actresses acted, and I stayed with it.

They could at least have large butch women playing the parts. It's just so stupid when a 90lb super model can easily overpower 300lb men because of girl power.

So, in a show that's not based in reality, we're worried about using a skinny girl to be a badass? Hmm.... There are arguments to be made based on our ancient relatives and how relatively skinny they would be compared to women now, yet were much stronger than most of us are today. You don't have to be butch or even look completely like a professional crossfitter to have that kind of power, but it certainly doesn't hurt. But I do love me some Donna since she's come around.

To add to this, as fishpan so eloquently put it, cringe worthy topic: Unless this agenda is overpushed, there won't be more of a chance for girls/women to have these kinds of shows/plots/roles. Whether people want to admit to it or not, kids are influenced by this kind of stuff. It doesn't even have to be an extreme influence, a subtle one does the trick. But if a girl sees another girl/or woman on the screen being a badass, sometimes that pushes them to be a little bit more badass. Of course there's a line somewhere that has to be drawn, but that's not the point that I'm getting at. Sometimes this has to go too far in order for it to become more the norm.

And, I don't count Buffy as being the most iconic, but I wasn't much of a fan. I'm more of an ALIAS kind of girl myself. Or, even BONES since she reps in the field of STEM. I want to see more women kicking ass and taking names, so bring it on!

Where does this notion come from that we need to have this feminist agenda propaganda force fed to us in order to force us small minded oppressive men to create more strong female role models.As a man i find this stereotype that all men are chauvinists who want to keep women in their place insulting.Strong female characters in film and tv were the norm long before this movement started.

How about Buffy,Alias,Bones,Dark angel,Agent Carter,Super girl,Rizolle and Isles,Orphan black,Orange is the new black,Izombie,Nikita,Continuum,Veronica Mars,The Sarrah Connor chronicles,Heroes,Agents of Shield,The X files,Fringe,Tru calling and Dollhouse.I'm sure there are many others i can't think of.All feature strong prominant female leads.All present long before this preachy agenda started.

People are acting like it's some huge accomplishment that we finally have strong female role models on tv that young girls can look up to as if it's new or something.I'm looking at that impressive list above and i'm thinking it's old news.

As far as small skinny women realistically kicking ass.Skill wins out over brawn.A properly trained and skilled fighter can over come any enemy regardless of size.

By people, I believe you mean the media? However, I also think what some women are tired of is the stereotypical depiction in movies/tv shows/books of the clueless and weak woman. Let's be real here, most of us aren't like that at all. And all men are NOT chauvanistic pigs. Most men are decent guys. But unfortunately we remember the degenerates more than we do the guys who aren't.

I was pretty happy when my kid (who's just about an adult now) took to Lilo and Stitch the way she did because for once it wasn't a princess movie. It was a girl on an adventure. We went and saw Hidden Figures because I wanted to find out more about these women that I did not grow up knowing about who lived, geographically speaking, right in my backyard for the most part! Like, TF, over? Imagine how many more girls would consider pursuing a career in space exploration/aviation if they knew about women like this. Heck, I really didn't even grow up learning about the other women that worked with them. We did go see Wonder Woman together. I loved that freaking movie, but I've never been much of a WW fan. I think the only thing that I didn't like was the night she spent with what's his name. Now in the same sense, I also hate when movies/shows/spinoff books for Sherlock Holmes try to give him a true love interest. Let that guy be and let WW be too. I kind of think it cheapens the character.

Buffy has superpowers, it makes sense that she can do the things she does. She isn't human. Logical consistency is what matters to me, I don't care what mythical universe the show is set in. If a 90lb woman can overpower a room full of large men, I expect every 90lb woman in that mythical universe to be able to bench press 300 pounds minimum.

I didn't even think about female empowerment when I was watching the "Wayward Sisters" (2018) backdoor pilot episode. It never really occurred to me.

Of course the writers are going to amp up the characters. They're trying to sell a show to The CW. It's obvious they had to make a few alterations in order to do so.

As far as the spinoff is concerned, I think I'm going to give it a hard pass simply because I don't see them as being leads. At most, they're good as supporting characters. It may have worked for "The Originals" (2013 - Present) because I could see Joseph Morgan (Klaus), Daniel Gillies (Elijah) and others carrying a show, but not "Wayward Sisters".

I suppose "Supernatural: Bloodlines" (2014) kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't really have much faith in any "Supernatural" spinoffs at this point.

Besides, I'm in it for the Winchesters. The brothers are awesome. They're practically the main reason why I tune in.
