Am I the only one who can't stand Eva Green?
Nothing against her, at all, I just can't stand watching her in movies.

I didn't see her as overly attractive. I didn't understand her getting the part of the femme fatale. She has a nice body but face wise not all that.
sharepfft gtfo , best shemale actor atm and the sexiest one

I totally agree. I dont know who chose her for this role.. let me just say she is so bad that even though I wanted to see the movie after seeing the trailers I lost all interest.
Now I have nothing against the actress, she is very beautiful (and looks natural unlike most actresses).
But Miller's Dame from the comic was definitely not a role for her.
First of all, this character is the strongest one in all the comics (if you have read all the stories). Ava Lord is magnifying, mysterious, sexy, dangerous, extremely beautiful but also monstrous. In the comic she is portrait as a tiny little woman with a poor baby face in once scene, then with a monster grin and a big tough body in the next one. Her looks are also very important - she resembles old noir-films stars, she has this shiny look, curly hair, beautiful eyes.
All that was very important. And while I dont think it was possible to play her 100% I think a good actress could have managed. Eva didnt. She is sexy and magnifying but her character seems forced. She is but a pale reflexion of Ava's true character.
And that is why the whole story is so dull. In the comic we cant wait for the next page, we love and hate Ava. We wanna see her in the next scene... She is truly magnificent character and makes the story one of the best stories, if not the best one.
Here in the movie it was totally lost. First the looks - Eva is pretty but she is a completely different type. She didnt even cut her hair for the role which shows how little everyone cared. The role required acting with all - face AND body. The actress would have needed to have at least a bit of muscles to show. And the face - well squinting your eyes was all that Eva was able to do... Where is the face of Ava Lord? The poor and terrified baby-like look when she wants to entangle her next victim, the wide eyes and crooked lips when she is about to kill???
I think Eva would be great for sin city itself, just not this role (although then again, finding an actress who can bear this role is a hard job!). Just compare her with Gail - Rosario Dawson is flawless. She is Gail (not just the looks, she really behaves like Gail from the comic, you might say she brought even more life into the character!). Ava Lord is not Ava Lord. Eva just didnt manage and couldnt manage because sin city is very much about the looks (it is a comic after all!).
So I am very dissapointed with the movie. It has some great actors and great scenes (Dwight is perfect, he is just like in the comic!), but overall the stories are dull and lifeless and the magic is gone.
They neednt have focused on new effects or better graphics, coz actually it takes away the great atmosphere that Sin City 1 had. They shouldve focused on the stories (the other small stories are great and couldve been incorporated easily!) and great actors (instead of famous actors!).
No. I don't understand the appeal.
shareWell something really is off with her face, it's something about the eyes , they are stunning but somehow don't compliment her face. It's strange.
She really did act horribly in this, yet in Penny Dreadful she did oscar material acting. It's simply because she's not right to play a femme fatale. She can play a seducing and scary woman sure, but the level of extreme sexuality and terror that role required doesn't work with her. The woman playing Ava has to be perfect and menacing, Eva Green simply has a too strange though beautiful face and she can be frightening but not in the clever, tied with beauty way required.
She just came off as a joke and something pulled right out of a parody rather than the actual thing. It doesn't matter how good a person can act, if the role is completely wrong the result will feel awful for the audience. Especially in a case like this.
Also to everyone saying you must be gay if you find her unattractive, try just accepting that everyone doesn't find her attractive and that everyone doesnt find her acting that great. She certainly is not a character actor, she has a voice kinda deep, sometimes not fitting for a femme fatal i would think. Anne Hathaway on the other hand is someone i think could play that role, not sure how alluring she is naked but hey.
