Loved the original. Is 2 worth seeing at all?
It doesnt look that good. The original was so good. Is this one just going to anger me? Or is there a chance i'll like it?

shareIt will anger you. I was a huge fan of the first one, it is my favorite movie, I bought the second one as soon as it came out and watched them in order and I was so dissapointed. The only reason I kept it and have watched it more than once is because it was the sequel to my favorite movie other than that it is a waste of money.

Yeah really. The best way to describe two is imagine someone using Evan's ability on a very small scale and for purely selfish gain. Also he only time travels like two or three times. There's really only two changed realities...if you don't count the ending one. It literally feels like half the movie is missing. They hint at all sorts of plotlines, but never follow through on any of them, nor do they flesh out anything, like Nick's father which would've probably an eventual connection to Evan...since Evan's dad shows up in a news page that Nick looks up.
shareIts a matter of who you are, if you expect it to be AS good as the first one then you will leave disappointed.
The movie only had 24 days to film everything on a very low budget. While the original had over 90 days to film if i remember correctly and alot better budget. Both movies reflect the time they had and the budget they had.
The first one had 2 big stars and alot more backing financially. The second one didn't have those ingrediants. Now understanding that you maybe able to appreciate what they were able to accomplish in less than a month.
I felt that did an excellant job with the cinematography, the mise-en-scene, and textual. And a really good job editing. The storyline is weak but thats because they were restricted in time to film it. If they had the same budget the movie would have been ALOT better.
So basically, it's like a house or video game:
The less time it is done, the less it will be in quality.
23 and a half days of shooting, they had to write the script that one afternoon after all.
shareWho were the two big stars?

Yes, It really was THAT bad. Do not listen to the person above me, this movie is terrible. If you have any respect for what the first movie was based upon, do not watch this. You will just be wasting your time watching a bunch of sex scenes (which seem to go on forever), and some guy who acts like he is still 14 years old (very immature). This said guy seems to have no common sense whatsoever, and gives no thought to how he should alter his future. It is no surprise he then mangles it terribly (it is especially sad since he isn't restricted to when he can time travel, unlike the first movie). If you could go back in time, why wouldn't you set yourself up to win the lottery 5 times in a row? Or at the very least, correcting all of your mistakes before you make them? No, all he manages to do is get to be vice president of a bankrupt company without his girlfriend. Good job buddy! You managed to make your life worse than it already was before fiddling with time! my advice is stay away from this. It is like watching a very bad porno with a lot of boring dialog.
Pluto was rejected as it was too far out there. Years later, it will become the Death Star.
dvd i rented out of it actually says on the dvd itself 'not for rental'... did somebody take their frustration of how poor the film was out the dvd, then have to replace it?!
Id say rent it so you can make your own opinion, but dont do so till its old stock so its cheaper or pick it up for 50p in sale if u so happened to see it heh
Agreed, completely. :)
Remember the name, CHRIS HEWITT, because when I'm famous, you'll hear a LOT more of it ;-)
I started a thread similar to this in the original Butterfly Effect boards, but no replys, there's my answer.
Thought I'd scope out what other people thought aswell. B.E. 2 was on one of my movie channels last night, I couldn't stand more than 15 to 20 minutes of it and I loved the first. I seen this one as an easy way to make money from the success of a great film while straying so far from what made the first one great in the first place. A sequel for the sake of it if you will. Of course, I was sure of all this before I even watched the first 20 odd minutes, and now that I hear what others think, I'm glad I didn't lose any more time to it, besides the time it took to write this post.

if you value your time, money, and effort of watching a decent movie you wouldnt want to watch this. i can gladly say that they butchered the actual movie. i wish i could grab the director by the throat and wring his neck for what he did.

Dont watch it....I did trying to give it a valid chance....And was greatly dissapointed......I mean everything about the movie is wrong....Its not one of the worst movies ever made, but its certainly a very lame sequel...(What a way to ruin the thundering effect the first one did)...
shareYou cannot call it butterfly effect 2, a shame for the really great first one.
shareWow, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't great but it certainly wasn't as bad as everyone is saying. It is nowhere near as good as the first one, but if you want to see it, then see it. I was surprised that the acting was good for a DTV. It suffered from a weak script.

The Butterfly Effect is total sh it and isn't worth viewing at all. It just copied the story from the first one, added a bit of porn and crappy actors.
No where near the original...

If you just HAVE TO watch it....watch it. But remember, you'll be so disappointed. It's not that bad. It's just the fact the main character acts like an *beep* hence you don't care what happens to him, there's no meaning to this movie, it's just like the first with different characters, less budget, and just ONE surprise. AND random sexuality throughout the film.
shareWatch it if you happen to come across it, but don't put any effort into it.
If you had not seen the first one, this one would not maky ANY sense. It didn't make ANY reference to the first one or the history. At least the first one explored childhood to adulthood and the father before with the same affliction and really fleshed out what was happening.
This one was cheap, and not nearly as intelligent as the first. Could have been fleshed out better - almost like this was the rough draft without any details. He basically is trying to keep his girlfriend from dying in a car wreck THE WHOLE FIRST HALF of the movie!!!! Then he's trying to get a promotion at work the next 25% of the movie!!!!! Then he gets the promition and wants out of it the last portion. STUPID...
Oh, and by the way, the girlfriend and friends has NO IDEA anything was going on! In the first, his mother and friends new what he was doing.
In the end he just kills himself -- SH#@T, for what he was trying to do, he should have just gone back to the beginning - not driven his SUV to prevent his girlfrien dying, checked the lottery numbers while he was switching cars, hit the freakin' jackpot and started his own firm and turn it into a comedy.
I rented it for $1.00 from a grocery store kiosk, so I'm not going in search of the producer, director and writers!
good job telling people the end dude. some people were reading this to see if they should actually watch it and then decide if they want to or not, not for some jerk to ruin it for them.
sharei'm not a dude, dude.
