I like a wide variety of movies, but this one did nothing for me.
Didn't care about the main character, it seemed overly long and tedious - and the ending was unsatisfying.
perhaps as a comment against the Romanian health care system it's "effective", but I found it lacking on every level.
I DON'T recommend watching this film.
To say that this film is boring would suggest that you lack understanding in what makes a great movie. The acting was top class. The dialogue was brilliant. Humerous but so realistic under the circumstances. The longevity was required to highlight the plight that this sick man was having to go through. I loved the movie. It was real. Not cheesy like most of what comes out of Holywood. I can only assume your kind of excitement comes from a movie something like 'Fast and Furious'. So in future stick to your Vin Diesel and the likes of XXX. Don't try and watch such movies. Your intellect obviously doesn't go that far. Maybe subtitles are too much for you. I don't know why. Don't care either. Just saddens me to see someone telling people to avoid such a good movie.
For everyone else who appreciates quality.... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching this film.

Who would you say is the main character in this film?
Because it is not Mr. Lazarescu.
The main character is the ambulance nurse who feels empathy and cares... everybody uses her as a doormat asking "why did you bring him here" and getting rid of the grudge they feel for having to deal with a patient who stinks, cannot talk sensibly, is old and cannot be cured. she ploughs on and on until he receives treatment.

This is a gem of a movie and I absolutely recommend it.
On the other hand, if you enjoyed movies like 'Taken' and 'Knocked Up', you're not going to like this one.

I can understand that point of view. During the first several minutes I was worried that I'd wasted my money renting it. However, I ended up getting caught up in the travails of Mr. Lazarescu and his rescue crew. I think the beginning was long and tedious, and if the movie lost you there, then you can't recover. Mr. L was unsympathetic at the beginning. That's a problem for many movie goers - not having a character they care about kills the movie. The issue is whether (a) the director can turn that around or (b) the character has to be unsympathetic and we see a character study of some kind.
I think this movie was an (a) and for some people the turn around to sympathy was either too late or too little as for Mr. L. I ended up caring what happened to him, but the ambulance crew also became an important source of empathy, too.

a crappy film. totally stereotypical about a somewhat disorganised and overworked healthcare system. just because acting is good doesn't make the film good.

shareat first i hated lazarescu, he was the misserable drunk, but during the course of movie you end up feeling sad for him no matter what, beign bounced off one hospital after another, and the third one wont treat him becuase the doctors there are egoistic pricks.
