There are two versions of this movie! Which one is your fave?

I had only seen the "first" version back when it came out...If you want to know the differences and have not seen both versions here they are: SPOILER ALERT:

1. In one of them, he is scaling the ledge outside only to realize there are no other windows-nothing but brick!!
2. The "other" version he is up in the air vents and actually SPEAKS to Kevin O'Malley! (the first victim of 1408 who slashed his throat and tried to sew it back together) and he (Kevin) says: HELP ME!!-In the shorter version he is only seen crawling after Mike for a second and they never reveal who this dusty old corpse (ghost) is....
3, There are more flashbacks in this version...an extra flashback with Mikes Dad while Mike is looking down from the Vent
4. Most importantly--there was a completely different ending!!! Mike is NOT pulled out of the room. He dies inside and they show his funeral...also Olin goes to his funeral and for a moment we see the charred remains of Mike in his rear view mirror...Spooky!!! Also--They pan up to the gutted out remains of 1408 and show an Intact ghost of Mike as he fades out of sight....

If you HAVE seen both versions---Which one is your favorite? I have to be honest..I loved the Kevin O'Malley part in the vents...However, I liked the other version better....Not because he gets out alive...I just thought it was spookier and good the way it was....

I very much prefer DC as a whole. Vent scenes were more tense, Father scenes were emotional and gave lil' more background and the ending was perfectly suitable for this kind of film. It's like Silent Hill. You go there, you struggle, you learn the truth, you find the redemption.... But in the end, Nobody leaves Silent Hill.

I prefer the Director's Cut overall. The vents scene was much more effective and creepy, the added scenes with Mike's dad fleshed him out more and lent a little more emotional weight to the film (along with the scenes of him and daughter), and the ending was much more somber and unsettling. It's like the ending of Candyman, in all honesty; the main character gives his/her life to destroy the evil entity/room, and ultimately becomes a part of the thing they were investigating and seeking.

Director's Cut. The vents scene is more intense, and the added scenes really help the film feel more complete, and the ending feels more in tone with the rest of the film.

Loved both versions, but probably favor the DC version more, because I think the ending was more powerful.

I prefer the Director's Cut very much.

I like the idea of him retaining his sanity but still ending up dying.

I prefer the DC because there was no way he was getting out alive after the countdown started.
