AVOID THIS FILM! Can people stop with the fake reviews!
This is one of the worst most pointless films. Terrible acting and plot. I hate when people just fake sarcastic good reviews just to troll..

I admire you extreamly.
this movie is one of the most *beep* and the most unclear movies in history
and just have a good first half hour
It have not anything else...
Avoid seeing it
Avoid good voting about it
Sorry but while that applies certainly to some films, it does not apply here.
People genuinely get something deep and meaningful from this movie, including me... I love this movie, have seen it probably ten times.
I love the movie, 1408. Stephen King's best book adaptation in my opinion. I've seen the movie at least ten times. I love it.
When Kusack goes into the room, and he's looking out the window, and The Carpenters start playing the first time
he turns around and kinda freaks out about the chocolates on the pillow.
Had to rewind it to check pictures of the bed before that to see, there were no chocolates there before
In fact the bed is turned down...
I'd leave then
Ghost turn-down service is where I draw the line
So many little details
It's very Kubrickian
Unsettling, but you're not entirely sure why...
One of the constant symbolisms in the film is mirroring... when he tosses the holy bible, we see the writing mirrored, but there is no mirror there except in that close up shot... the two mints, the wallpaper, like two parallel universes...
This movie is full of so many weird moments... like when Kusack is on the phone to the front desk after he hurts his hand... we get a quick smattering of odd shots... it's inconsistencies the viewer sees if they're paying attention but that he's like wtf?
What do you want,
Mr. Enslin?
- You sought this room.
- It was a job. I was doing the job.
- I beg your pardon?
- My job! I'm a writer.
Oh, that's right.
You don't believe in anything.
You like shattering
people's hopes.
Oh, that's *beep*
Why do you think people
believe in ghosts?
For fun?
No.
It's the prospect
of something after death.
How many spirits
have you broken?
~Stephen King's 1408
A good reminder for us all.. we can question, pursue the truth, try to wake people up, to empower them... but in the end, what is the cost? Are we causing more pain and if so, is there a better way?
10/10

If you're the kind of person who only watches horror films for the sake of being scared, I can see why you wouldn't like it. However 1408 is not a ghost movie, it's a supernatural film about grief. Mike never properly grieved the death of Katie. He just ran off, left his wife alone and made a living off of debunking other peoples' paranormal beliefs. However, upon staying in 1408, the room brings Mike through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The novel itself according to King was not supposed to have much of a deep meaning. But everybody likes different things. For example I find Silence of the Lambs extremely overrated, yet it's one of the most reputable films out there. So just let people watch what they want to watch. To each their own.
Canada, eh? π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦ :)
