But why?

But why?
'The report claims that former DC Studios head Walter Hamada had intended for the character to act as "an elder statesman who could pop up in various films", with Keaton slated to appear in Batgirl, Lost Kingdom, and The Flash. However, all three of these films would experience their fair share of complications; as Batgirl was shelved entirely while in post-production, The Flash's release date faced several reshufflings, as did Lost Kingdom, as it underwent what is as of now three rounds of reshoots. Due to these shifting release dates, there was a point at which Lost Kingdom was slated to release in March 2023, months ahead of Keaton's return as Batman in The Flash, which would open in June. Because of that, the Batman cameo in Lost Kingdom would have to be reshot with Ben Affleck in the role, though as of the latest cut of the film, now neither iteration of the caped crusader appears.'
This - especially the bolded - shows what a farce the whole thing became. I'm a DC guy and I support their movies whenever I can, but this is laughable. And I will never forgive Warners for their f***-ups that resulted in us having a substantial, long-term return by Keaton dangled in front of us, only for it to be snatched away. F***ers.
ikr,at one point Keaton was going to be the (nu)DCEUs batman taking over completely from Affleck and appearing at the end of The Flash with Supergirl (instead of it being reshot with Cavil/Gadot, then you know who), Batgirl supporting role , Aquaman cameo, and a potential Batman Beyond movie (that maybe Tim Burton wouldve come back to direct?)
at the time this was going on i didnt understand just how Keaton could be in Aquaman2 with Momoa and BatGirl (with JK Simmons as the DCEUs Gordon), but after watching The Flash it obviously all makes sense, (and Aquaman2 having to be reshot with Affleck when release dates shifted, .. crazy)
Keaton HAS to be pretty miffed at how its turned out, not just his 'NickFury' style batman appearances getting canned and 3rd Bat movie, but his much anticipated return in The Flash (which was part sold as a Batman89 legacy sequel like Top Gun Maverick or Jurassic World or The Force Awakens) got sidetracked with all the Ezra Miller crap going on and ultimately (and unthinkably) bombed (despite him being great in it) therefore making his iconic Batman look abit like not so much a big deal anymore.. :(
The fates just crapped on Keaton, didn't they. I'm so grateful that his return in The Flash wasn't canned as well, and that he did such a great job. At least we got that. The one (small!) hope I'm hanging onto is that Warners have seen the pretty much universal praise that Keaton got returning to the role, and give us that Keaton/Burton Batman Beyond. I know it's reported that BB was pulled, but money talks... hopefully... maybe...
shareAt one point during the Ezra mess and covid it looked like The Flash might even get canned, or at least get dumped on straight to stream. I guess we should be thankful we got to see it in cinemas!
