So, he doesn't at least want to know who killed his mother?

could kill/send the guy to prison in the present

reply

Yeah, bizarre the plot just forgets about this. He could've used time travel to solve the problem without damaging the timeline. Just travel to the time of the murder and observe without interfering. That could've helped him find the real killer's identity and get his dad off the hook.

reply

I believe the issue was that he wanted to affect the timeline as little as possible. If adding a can of tomato sauce had that big of an effect then what would stopping the killer have done? If all he did instead was prove his fathers innocence, He would have to do this12 years after the without intervening in the timeline before the present, somehow find evidence that this other guy actually did it to exonerate his father. this sounds far more complicated and requiring far more interference.

Like I said, he would've just witnessed the murder. He wouldn't have stopped the killer from committing the murder. He wouldn't have interfered, just stay hidden and silently witness the murder. I don't see how that would've interrupted any timeline of actions. And unless the killer was disguised, he would've known what he looked like. Go to present time and describe the killer to the police and Batman and see if he can be tracked down.

We don't know how complicated it would've been to find the killer and prove his guilt because The Flash never even made the effort to find him. But when he has a access to a master detective like Batman it certainly would've been worth a try.

Agree with other posters... the real goal was to save his mother. That ended up leading to the events of this film as they are.

You need evidence. His father's alibi couldn't be used in the first place because the store's surveillance recording couldn't verify that his father wasn't in the house at the time of the murder. No way they were just going go on Barry's word to track someone down, let alone prove that he was the real murderer.

Which he ended up giving up on, but he still could've gotten his dad off the hook by finding out more about the killer. But he didn't even try.

"You need evidence."
Which he could've possibly found by investigating the killer's identity. Who is this guy and does the murder weapon still exist someplace? He has access to a master detective who could possibly found incriminating info on this guy. But he didn't even try.

Who would want to sit silently and watch their mother get murdered? Would he even be able to do it?
But maybe the answer is that they planned to explore that in a potential sequel.

That’s because he is in fact the murderer.

Also, he’s his own grandfather, possibly.

Exactly like that, except a lot faster, seeing as he’s The Flash!

reply

Thawne (Yellow Flash / Reverse Flash) killed Flash's mother.

reply

Wait, what. Is this true?

reply

Absolutely - he went on a double date with Marty McFly.

reply

Negates the whole premise of the film, to save his family.....his mother, and in turn his father.

reply

As they point out in the Honest Trailer, Barry Allen works for the police department, as a.... Crime Scene Investigator.....
