Brandon Routh…

They should have gotten Brandon to return as a multiverse Superman.

Heck, maybe they could even do some kind of clever (tongue in cheek) cameo with Tom Welling.

I think i saw a Superman Returns poster in alt Barry's room along with posters for other Warner films Inception, Pacific Rim, Mars Attacks (Tim Burton), I Am Legend (remember the BvS poster in times sq)

but a Superman movie in alt Barrys universe? god knows that supposed to work in the scheme of things..?

Technically, Routh's Superman is the same as Christopher Reeve, just like how George cLooney's Batman is technically the same one as Michael Keaton. The dummies making this movie couldn't figure that out.

Given how badly this bombed, Routh is probably relieved that he's NOT in the movie...

its strange bc it now means B&R (and BF) are set in (slightly) different universes to B89/BR.. like everytime an actor changes the role its a new universe?? (and what does that mean for MCU when they changed Norton, William Hurt et al)

but anyway regarding Routh the differences between SR and the Reeve movies are so great thered be no problem considering them different universes that shared the odd similariry (Brando, crystal krypton/FoS)

Exactly. The "it's a different actor, so therefore its a different universe" argument is stupid. If that was the case, Iron Man 2 is in a "different universe" than Iron Man 1 because James Rhodes is now played by Don Cheadle instead of Terrence Howard, while Ant-Man 3 is now a "different universe" than Ant-Man 1 & 2 because Cassie Lang is played by Kathryn Newton instead of Abby Ryder Fortson, etc.

Superman Returns is clearly MEANT to be in the SAME universe as Superman 1 & 2, and they said so at the time (the problem is they needed to ignore 3 & 4 for that to work, which irked me at the time until Man of Steel came along and rebooted EVERYTHING). Yeah, there are LOTS of little differences anyway (and BIG differences when you compare the Joel Schmaucher Batman world to Tim Burton's), but it's still technically the same universe. Alfred doesn't go "Master Bruce! You look COMPLETELY different! Gotham City, Wayne Manor, and the Batmobile have been TOTALLY altered overnight as well! I must have crossed over into another reality!" upon seeing Val Kilmer or George cLooney.

In any case, thankfully Routh wasn't in this dumpster fire, so it won't taint his version of Superman in case they need him back as Superman in a GOOD movie!

I totally forgot about Brandon Routh as Superman. LOL.

Yeah, they should have ask him too. Like he could play an actual role of Superman, not a cameo.

He got his shot in the TV version Crisis on Infinite Earths
