People who find Aristocrats funny, simply aren't.

You can go on about pushing the limits of taboo, exploring our perceived notions of tolerance or looking beyond the content of a joke to find its humour but the bottom line is that this film must be one of the worst ever made. It lowered my opinion of both comics (who seem to be narcissistic creeps) and Americans (who everyone hates anyway). I feel sorry for anyone unfortunate to have been seduced by the attractive cast (and attractive it is), spent money and taken more time out of their lives than was necessary to see this in the cinema. I urge anyone with a sense of humour to avoid it at all costs.

You have been warned.

0/10.

You have to tell the joke in order to get it

You have to get the joke in order to make a movie about it.

This film was intended to make you, and people like you known to the rest of us. You see, by your reaction to this joke or anybody's for that matter you can tell alot about a person. You're one of those people who look for hidden meaning and symbolism in everything while missing the best part. You probably sat there watching this movie thinking how "above" the crude humor you were. Then you hopped online to tout and verify how this film offended and displeased you because of your supreme intellect. Well, Justin-uk this wasn't a film it was a documentary. There were numerous poignant and funny sections that had NOTHING to do with the joke specifically. The improv with George Costanza (I know I can't recall his name) made me wan't to call certain friends. The joke Larry Miller tells about the Hippos in the Johnny Carson section of the bonus features was singularly brilliant enough to warrant the time spent watching the entirety. Your probably going to wither away angry and miss everything cool Justin-uk.

I bet you don't get the snail joke or the giant orange head joke either.

I pity you.

Remm, No, you are wrong on all accounts. This film was intended to be funny and it missed because the film makers were lazy and/or juvenile. If anything, this film is a litmus test for dumb asses. How is it the people who defend this film seem incapable of understanding what is said in negative reviews. I swear, you idiots ALWAYS get it wrong. It's not about being a prude, moron. Go back and read the op's and reviews.

If you hate Americans, why are you worried about movies Americans are in? Or what the stars are doing? You seem to have been disappointed in a film and then decided that being ignorant somehow helps your argument that the film was 'the worst ever made'. You detract from what you did not like about the film for prejudice. Congratulations on such a 'riveting' review of a film.

Pretentious eurotrash *beep* making a post on the internet movie database message board to generalize a docucomedy about an unfunny joke, how original...

reply

This is pretty ridiculous. Did the author of this thread even watch the movie? Yes, the joke is crude and nasty but it's not even so much about the joke itself as it is about who tells it and what they add to it. The story teller makes the joke their own and it becomes sort of an endurance test of how far they can take it and for how long without screwing up the punchline. HOW MANY TIMES WAS THAT STATED IN THE FILM?

Anyhow... never expect the simpletons to understand anything that remotely challenges their self righteousness. It gives them a headache.

By simpleton you mean people who don't like dozens of comics in a row "owning" the nuances of diarrhea?

reply

The only simpleton on this thread is the person who thinks this drivel is funny.

reply

Wow . . I just took a cursory glance at your post history. This movie really did a number on you, hoss. If I see a movie and think it's "drivel" or "tripe" or whatnot, I may post about it a couple of times, but then I typically move on and more-or-less forget about it.

You've been keeping up this fight for years, off and on. Fair to say it pushed some buttons? It's kind of fascinating, really. Tell me about your childhood. Were you perchance involved in a family performance-artish act of some sort?

I comment on this movie as a public service to save people from being put through the torture I was when I had to see it with a friend.

Funny, Sloppy, I find your interest in my distaste for this tripe fascinating. Tell me, how much DID this movie mean to you?

reply

I'm not sure how to quantify that for you, but I saw it in a little theater years ago, haven't seen it since, and have probably popped onto the boards at IMDB a handful of times over the years to see what people thought about it. So, I guess it didn't mean all that much.

It was an interesting look at the minds of various comedians and how they process an open invitation to one-up one another. Some just try to take it as far across "the line" as they could, others tried to subvert expectations.

Does that answer your question? The reason I chose to respond to you is that I just can't grokk how a fairly insignificant little doc like this would cause anyone such long-term heartburn. It would be equally odd to me if someone said "OMG OMG OMG . . The Aristocrats is the BEST MOVIE EVER!"

I would propose that your exaggerated visceral negative reaction doesn't "save people from torture" by avoiding this movie. If anything, it would make me more curious, if I hadn't already seen it. It did a number on you, bub.

Lol, you're not sure how to "quantify" my question "How much did this movie mean to you". Okay. That speaks volumes. It obviously meant more than you are letting on. Your veiled aggression belies your magnanimous curiosity.

I truly appreciate your concern about my well being and time management, SloppyJ30... it means a lot to me, however, I'm sure the few hours of my life in the past, what... 8 years, I've devoted to this humble public service of mine has not distracted significantly from my career as a US Senator/disaster relief administrator.

reply

The sentence "I'm not sure how to quantify it for you" speaks volumes? Really? That's a serious skill for reading between the lines, Mr. Senator. No wonder your constituents elected you. And that one line is "obvious" evidence that I have a very special attachment to the movie. Allllll-righty, then!

Neither veiled aggression nor magnanimous curiosity are present. Finding someone who lets a movie fester like a splinter for years strikes me as weird. You may find my saying that rude, you may think that every well-adjusted person would hate The Aristocrats to the degree you do, but "aggression" implies you think I want to beat you up or something. I merely think you're a silly goose.

SlppyJ30, the fact that you read so much in to so little belies (contradicts, for The Aristocrats fans) that you have more at stake here than you are letting on. If you truly didn't care you would never take the time to scour these boards to find out, or be concerned with, how much I am commenting. The fact that you respond to these comments now only underscores that. But I enjoy the bump each time you do (again, for fans of The Aristocrats, that's fancy internet talk meaning moving my comments, or "bumping" to the top of the comments boards so they appear first), so keep on calling me silly!

reply

You're silly. Silly, silly, SILLY!

FYI, the fancy magical internet techno-doohickies that IMDB features allow me to "scour" their boards for a particular user's comments by clicking on their name. The word "scour" implies a lot of work went into it. Using my index finger to apply a click or two didn't exactly dominate my day.

No doubt about it, it was unfunny trash. I'm watching Woody Allen in Sleeper, and I don't know which is the least funny.

reply

Sleepers was a comedy which some may or may not like, The Aristocrats is a 10 year old Ron Jeremy on the playground moving his finger up and down on his lips while saying dirty words he just learned.
