A top of the line Robot for 45k?

Only thing that bother me about the movie, how can in this universe they expect you to believe you can buy a bot for that cheap, seems like everyone who wanted one could of taken out a 60 month loan to buy one for whatever they wanted...

I believe they used "current" monetary sums just to make it "sound" ok to audiences. It's the near future. Just think if he had said, "I need 2.5 million for a robot"? Futurama does the same thing whereas $1,000,000 is still a considerable sum in the year 3000.

Robot boxing had replaced human boxing, given how big boxing is right now, you throw in robots and it becomes even BIGGER. Which makes me think that technology to design and make robots got much cheaper as it got mass produced, like how todays technology gets cheaper the more they sell.

And also, you don't know how strong the currency is in this film, maybe a hundred bucks in that film could be the equivalent of todays 1000 bucks? :D

You have to take inflation/deflation into consideration. 45,000 dollars in 2020 might be 500,000 dollars in 2013 money.

Also why does 45K for a robot surprise you? A freakin' kid only costs 50K! lol. This movie sucks.

Think of it like a used car. A 100k car that is 5 or 6 years old, modified (voice recognition and paint), and a little beaten up MIGHT be worth half of its original value. Also take into consideration advancement of technology as well as supply and demand value, then I could see Noisy Boy costing 150-200k when it was brand new.

Different time. How much was 40k worth to someone from the 20's?
