i have decided that every movie i watch this year i am going to vote and comment on.
movies are supposed to be entertaining. this was not one of them.
this movie did have good cinematography and a great narrator in Morgan Freeman. I also did learn about the life cycle of penguins, but for most parts there wasn't much movement from the penguins. It was boring for most parts and a documentary should focus on other fauna that are more appealing to the audience. I could see how easily it would be for someone to fall asleep while watching this film.
This movie was not for me. i gave it 4/10.

Why can't movies be informative? Do you know how many billions of stories or events are happening around you right now, in just your own neighborhood?

I agree.

Informative films are of much more value than entertainment.

We live here a few short years. What we do affects the world we live in. At the least we should know something about this world, while we are here.

This is a beautiful, informative, and entertaining doc.

Movies are supposed to be entertaining???? Who said that and who's gonna judge what's entertaining or not?

If you ask me I find way more "entertaining" one of those "unwatchable" (unwatchable for many fans of the pop-corn flicks) psychodramas by Ingmar Bergman than any foolish movie by the Wayan Bros, Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler.

You say the lives of the penguins wasn't very interesting. When you decided you were going to watch a documentary about penguins, what did you expect? If the director has jazzed it all up to make the lives of penguins come across as something that it isn't, there would be many people (like myself) complaining about the lack of realism.
As an example of the genre I think it is fantastic.

I thought the same thing when this movie first came out "Who would watch that? It looks so boring" but then after awhile I fell inlove LOL with penguins for some odd reason. Haha idk why but they amaze me & became my favorite animals. Then I decided to watch this the other day & I loved it. Sometimes documentaries can be entertaining ,depending on what type of person you are. I could use a break from all the drama, comedy, horror, etc every once in a while to watch something simple about things that are happening in real life.

This is a documentary, which is supposed to be informative. Being informed by a good documentary IS entertaining, at least to some people.
