this is coming from a guy who gave van helsing 7/10, and said taxi driver sucks. jackkiller obviously knows a good movie when he sees one.

I used to watch it as per the genere....I too gave Wedding Crashers and Click 8..

So mr. jackkiller, I'd like for you to name your favorite movie, a movie that you'd rate a 10 or so, and honestly tell us that you couldn't predict the ending to it.

Basically what I'm saying, for those who can't infer, is that a movie can still be good even if you can predict the ending. Why must so many people hate good movies because they claim to "predict" the ending? The reason I loved this movie was because it was something different and well told, unlike so many other movies. As far as predicting the ending, I don't sit there and try to think about what's going to happen, I just watch the movie and think about what is currently going on, then when they start revealing that's when it gets even more interesting.

So jackkiller, clearly you don't have the correct mindset for movies, or any kind of story for that matter. I suggest you try and come up with something new, something that hasn't been done before in a movie, and try to tell the story which is impossible to predict the outcome of.

Well done Icedmetal!! Jackkiller rest in peace now!! :)
And yeah. Luck Number Slevin was amongst the best movies of that year and I thoroughly loved it!!

Amen to that.

To OP, I hate it when people come here bashing movies that they don't like just because they can predict the ending. I'm not watching movie so I can guess the ending and if I'm right that's definitely a bad movie, it's wrong and stupid.
Practically most of romantic comedy or adventure movies are not that hard to guess the ending, but doesn't mean it's bad.
You must count the story, plot lines, actors, sounds, cinematography and everything else that involved which makes one a good movie. If you can't comprehend all those things and take those into your considerations, then you cannot distinguish which one is good or bad movie. Your words mean nothing.

Ok, i just read that you gave Click an 8. Now you're complaining this is rated too high? Enough said. Why do you have so much faith in IMDB to begin with? It's peoples opinions of movies. Everyone has different tastes, yours just sucks, thats all

reply

wow, you're kinda dumb, huh? ... but yes, please go away, its better for all of us.

As others have pointed out, the rating is based on the votes of other users, so blaming IMDB for it seems silly.

Regardless, I thought the movie better than you, but I'm not basing that only on what I figured out ahead of time. Sure, I can usually come up with some (or many) of the twists beforehand (depending on the movie), but there are other factors too:
- How well is the story told? In this case, I found the story entertainingly told.
- Did the actors do a good job? I thought so.
- How was the dialogue? Quite good, I thought. Banter between Josh Hartnett's & Lucy Liu's character after they first met was a good example -- crisp, fun, and unusual enough to be interesting.

Of course, all of this is subjective, so what works for me in a movie may not be your cuppa. If you've found a site that you prefer, it naturally makes sense for you to go there, and perhaps the user base there will be more on your wavelength.

It's been a while since I seen this but after seeing it I thought it was less then average. The main reason why people may rate this as 7.8 or better is because of the cast and not the story or dialogue. I remember timing how long Josh Hartnett was running around in a towel and I think it's around an hour. I guess that's what makes a movie good these days. I give it a 5.5/10.

I agree with the OP, and this is not a movie fansite to those facists who believe that if you are not in agreeance with them then you shouldn't be on this website.

I have no idea how anyone can say this movie was any good. Bruce Willis just stood in each scene with hardly any expression. They clearly did not use Bruce Willis to his full potential and could've used any other actor for that "character" I believe he's supposed to be...

Josh Harnett pretty much acts like himself throughout every movie and I would not consider him an actor. I came into this movie without any expectations like the Usual Suspects, but this movie blew filth.

Ratings, of movies or anything else, are idiotic, and anyone who chooses what to watch or whatever based on ratings is an idiot.

reply

This movie, to me was pretty good but to others might be a different story and that's my point. My taste differs to that of others. Some people love stage masterpieces like Ben Hur, Cleopatra etc and others might like the pop corn flicks like Matrix, Transformers etc. There's no point crucifying those who loved this film because YOU think it's a trash-can filled with plot holes.

IMDB ratings are based on the cumulative scores by users. This system and probably any other system are not perfect. Gone with the Wind is scored at 8.2 and ranks 167# of the top 250 films in IMDB while The Dark Knight is rated at 8.9 and ranks 7#. This is a prime example where rating gone wrong but however looking at it, GWTW is an old film from 1939 and not many would have heard of it. Coupled with the long 4 hour viewing time. I don't think many of the young generation would have liked it or considered it a masterpiece and that it deserves a higher ranking than The Dark Knight.

In IMDB if the majority love the film and rate it high then that means it WILL have a higher ranking. If you are in the nish then there's no point turning this into a e-War. Personal preferences are down to you, nobody will force you to watch something if you don't want to and the same goes with the ranking as majority of people rank them according to how much they liked them. Only in IMDB where Twilight is rated at 6.0/10. It deserves a lower rate IMHO :P
