Maggie Gyllenhaal ROBBED OF OSCAR NOMINATION

Never before has a performance been as heartbreakingly true to reality as that of Maggie Gyllenhaal's in "Sherrybaby". Sherry's struggle to clean up her life is poignately put on the screen. Gyllenhaal delves deep into this tragic character and I doubt she will ever have as grand a performance again. You can see her living the character to the bone. She never skips a beat. Such as subtle things like gulping the non-alcoholic drink in a red cup when handed to her at her daughters party scene just because she is use to it.

That being said- she was robbed of an Oscar nomination. The 2007 Oscars included all fantastic performances by Actresses. Its hard to disagree with the list. Except that Maggie Gyllenhaal is not included. Infact ANY of the actresses listed that year are of such equal stature that any of them could easily have been replaced by Gyllenhaal (except Helen Mirren). Those that nominate for the Oscars need to start taking it more serious. Otherwise performance gem's like Gyllenhaals in Sherrybaby will go on being unrecognized.

I was surprised she wasn't nominated either. Some people have said she was a diva on the set, anyway.

I concur. Gyllenhaal should have been nominated for an Oscar. She was absolutely heartbreaking as Sherry.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

Maggie should have DEFINETELY be nominated, I agree! However, Penelope Cruz in 'Volver' is incredible and one of the most memorable performances, perhaps of all time.
