why do aging stars have to have young girls as a love interest?

this is ridiculous pacino is seriously old enough to be this girls grandfather , i thought it was bad in next like jessica biel would go for nicholas cage (although i know his real wife is like 22) any other movies with insanely unrealistic couplings???

The answer to your first question is: because studios inexplicably think that audiences will somehow shrivel up and die if they happen to see a woman over 40 'pashing'...

Because lots of young girls have daddy issues.

I think it might be common for a younger woman to be attracted to an older guy especially if he is someone in a position of authority. I know I had a couple of crushes on college professors back in the day.

lol i was thinking the same thing. It seemed like there was some romance brewing between Al Pacino and Alicia Witt. He is old enouggh to be her father and grandfather. I thought it was a bit weird, but Al is a pretty good looking guy for his age. It could have been worse

Well, it's not like he was a professor for a bunch of 50 year old students. Second, I'm sorry you saw the movie "Next". That was worse than this movie.

I dont know if the Forrest Gump thing counts though. While she played the mother. It was through a passage of time and they had to make her look older. Similar To Hanks went through a passage of time.

But yeah i do hate that 50 year old men have 22 year olds as love interests. It is some kind of weird idea that Film Execs think people cant stand people close in age who are older.

I caught the end of "Singing In the Rain" last night and wondered about the age difference between Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly. She was 20 years old and he was 40 years old. It's obvious that Hollywood has been pairing older actors with young actress for a long time.
