Not that I think actors should be typecast, but this kind of family fantasy adventure movie just isn't her thing. She was created to make thrillers.

Foster was always rough around the edge kinda actress, even in her looks.
But so waht, my kids loved this movie, so who really cares, its just a harmless kids movie!
i think these opinions depend on each viewer, especially how he/she allows jodie foster a "clean slate" for a change and forget about her other roles. and the movie genre which is specifically for kids.....
personally i think she did fantastically well, she was totally hilarious and was so convincing, she really showed her versatility on nim's island. i think she really stood out. i hope to see her in other unique roles in the future...

My daughter and I just saw the movie last night for the first time. I found Jodie Foster very refreshing in this movie. I thought she fit the part perfectly and at times was very humorous.
