Fear and Loathing vs Scanner Darkly vs Requiem For a Dream
Which is the best?
shareFear and Loathing is true, or at least true-ish (probably a bit sensationalized) and that makes it better than the other two IMO.
I personally think Scanner was grossly overrated (and I am a big Downey, Jr and Harrelson fan)
And Requiem is hard to watch, especially the scenes with the old lady losing her mind.
All 3 are great, I can't really compare them.
shareI have to go with Requiem, just because it's made a larger impact on me than perhaps any other movie I've ever seen.

A Scanner Darkly - 10/10
Garbage Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Requiem For a Dream 4/5
A Scanner Darkly 3.5/5
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 3.5/5
A Scanner Darkly and Fear and Loathing in LV are more entertaining, but Requiem for a Dream is more intense. They're are all great movies.

Tough question. Let's analyze.
Requiem For a Dream, directed by one of the best directors of our time, Darren Aronofsky. Requiem is just as personal as the other films in this article. Anyone that has struggled with drugs will relate to this movie in one way or another. It's depressing and a hard-punch to the face.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is, as well, directed by one of the greatest directors ever, Terry Gilliam. Fear and Loathing isn't as dark or as moody as the other two films. It is a somewhat disturbing movie but you can't help but laugh at the crazy situations it's lead characters put themselves in. And frankly, as much as I loved the movie, every time I see it I want to go out and wasted, which is not something positive.
A Scanner Darkly, directed by Richard Linklater, is a very psychedelic film about the what hard drugs will do to the brain. It's a seriously dark and depressing film and does what it can to show the dangers in what happens from repeated drug use. It's a great film and the visuals will leave anyone stunned.
It's hard to say what is the "better" film. I guess it's based on what your experiences are in the real world. If you have had strong issues with drugs you will relate to these films. For me, A Scanner Darkly was excellent but can be hard to follow for those not ready for the experience. Requiem is just seriously depressing and can turn people off due to it's very realistic tone, maybe hitting home too much for some. Fear and Loathing is a fun film with a dark undertone but misses its mark if it is suppose to be an anti-drug flick.
I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.
