The reason why Carmen is fat is not because Puerto Ricans are curvier. She's not curvy, she's fat because she eats more calories than she burns. I know some Puerto Ricans that are curvy, but they're not fat. There's a difference between curvy and fat.

Carmen really needs to cut down on those hoagies. I heard that on set she knocked over all of the props for one scene when she smelled the hoagie delivery man arrive on set. They had to compltely redo everything and it delayed the movie for a few days. It turned out that the hoagie was a different cast members, but Carmen ate it anyways!

Well obviously not NOW that she lost weight. In this movie? Yes, of course, Carmen was supposed to be on the heavy side. They couldn't cast America if she wasn't. That's one reason why she feels alienated from her stepfamily, they're all skinny.
